The early 8 man content is a joke at this point. You will most likely have people in i90+ gear which means you can ignore lots of things. (execpt in Titan)
I've found that as a SCH you will normally be focusing on the tank since your AoE heals aren't as strong as a WHM. That said know your job and what each ability does (your best ones are still to come going off your char info) and you will be fine.
Being able to micromanage your pet will be very useful so if your not doing that now might be a good time to start.
Depending on your usage of rouse, macro it to whispering dawn so you can have eos cast a roused version for ongoing Aoe damage.
All in the Overheal %.
Yeah, but only when people drop below 70% health.
Which means when the fairy is on obey, it's not healing pointlessly or grabbing agro with heals before a fight properly starts.

i know what it's like to do most of the work healing the party while the other healer runs around clueless. i also know what it's like to be clueless while the other healer takes care of business, because i know that's part of the learning process. good communication is a key to being a good healer. gotta be on the same page with the other healer and the tanks. if someone is acting clueless, step up and help them out. nothing is worse than two healers wasting time healing the same target while another target is taking damage.
the fact is, by the end of a run i don't know which of the dps did the best job attacking the baddies, but i know how the healing went. i give props when they are due and advice when they aren't. i hope to get the same treatment in return. there are too many factors involved to metric ability in pug runs. if you are in a static group, then the healers know what is going on, whether they admit it or not.
The HPS can't be accurate in defining if there's an healer problem.
I know for sure the WHM in my group is doing more HPS than me, 'cause I leave the majority of AOE heals on him and I spend time casting mitigation effects as sch, saving the tank from bahamuth's claw etc...
If we were to follow your parser logic, I would look like the worst healer ever.

Commendations? If you're legitamitely "carrying" a healer (as opposed to just performing marginally better), my experience has been that the group takes notice.
