People bitch about not having NMs

Good ol' forum logic. Thanks everyone for the laughs, making work seem less slow today.

Correct me as I may be off base, but from my understanding the complaints are;
The hunts are being slaughtered in seconds making it practically impossible to get any kind of rewards.
The fact that the hunts allow one to get Sands and Oils mean people are rushing to get them from the Hunts and it throws a monkey wrench into SCoB.
The Hunts should have been added in a way that made it easier to do but without tagging.
Those are what I understand the complaints in this thread.
Now months before, people have complained that the open world was dead (it wasn't really), there was little to no danger out off the beaten path, people wanting NMs out and about to hunt down and slaughter for glory and items, but without the messy tagging issue which left people burned at the thought of losing a mob they've waited hours on to be taken by a bot or some such.
What they got was
NMs and Elite NMs walking around the open world which in theory could ruin your day, but is tempered by the fact that they are dying in seconds. This means while the open world is now populated, it is no less safe because the dangerous baddies get slaughtered. There is no tagging, but because the fights are a zerg fest, people aren't getting the credit they deserve. And finally, the hunts grant seals and such that can be used to get items, but for these items to actually mean something, they ended up being top tier end game stuff (presumably to ensure that endgamers will actually do hunts).
So cluster(#*$ basically.

I completely understand the complaints, but people seemed to fail to realize that open-world content is just that, open-world (accessible to anyone and everyone). If something isn't instanced, it WILL be zerg rushed or camped. That's the nature of MMO playerbases and there's really nothing that can be done about it other than making it impossible for players to attack enemies they previously killed. Camping mobs and zerg rushing are just something people are gonna have to suck up and deal with if they want open-world NMs.

Those things have been around for 12 years to help locate, teleport to, and claim NMs if you're new to FF MMOs. I still don't bother trying with this current system though, cuz I only managed to get to one of those S marks twice in 6 hours and gave up.Are you talking about an actual thing here? I know this was common in World of Warcraft. However it wasn't half as bad as hunts because the rare mobs just dropped little toys and various things. So they'd be contested but not half as contested as these hunts will continue to be.
Yeah I just googled it, I guess it was added into FFXIV-APP some months ago, you're talking about it like the FFXI app was just ported over at launch or something. Though I think you might be overestimating the effect of it, I think most people are using linkshells and locs. I mean can you get individual mob spawn alerts?

You're right about what most people are probably doing, but not about how useful those tools are. I played XI for seven years on PC HNMing and no, you cannot overestimate their effects.Yeah I just googled it, I guess it was added into FFXIV-APP a few months ago, you're talking about it like the FFXI app was just ported over at launch or something.
