PLD dealing with these rediculous speedrun parties... A little help?

I end up not using my hate combo for those big pulls in speed runs. I face pull everything (if a dps or a healer gets trigger happy it can screw me, but the only time I do speed runs is with my FC and they know better than that) and Flash/CoS as soon as it gets into a pile. I Flash several times then use my Riot Blade combo to keep my mana up so that I can keep using Flash. We usually run BLM/BLM or BLM/BRD and I have yet to have major problems with them yanking hate off me en masse when running this way. One mob here or there is dealable with Provoke + Shield Lob. Then again, like I said, I only run SR's with my FC and they know how to handle it if they do start pulling hate, i.e. move closer to me so I can get the mob back rather than kiting it away.

Try using FoF early in the pull as it raises your attack and therefore raises the enmity generated by Flash.

I speed run it with two i104+ Blm's that do easy 340+ dps on turn 8. We speed run in less than 10 mins, I've yet to have any problems holding aoe threat, and one doesn't even have quelling strikes....

You know WARs can ideally run this in 5min, right? I've done it in 6 in random party finder groups.

Doesn't seem balanced.

Haha, I'm talking about the full run... Not the first two bosses. I have my doubts the full run can be done in 5 mins regardless of set up...

Then you've got extremely good DPS and healer. Imagine how much faster it would be by adding a Warrior who does damage while generating AoE threat (something like twice as fast, mind you).

Urgh, that's exactly my point... I normally do it with vey good dps and healers from my static, and I still don't become a "viewer" on pld.

The point I am trying to make, is that pld can infact aoe tank all dungeons for speed runs, even with very good aoe dps just fine.... Stop making the topic about how fast it can be done with war, or how much better war are at aoe threat. That's not what is being disputed, the op is talking about doing speed runs on pld... I have a war, that I often do speed runs with lol. I don't need to imagine how much faster it can be done with war, I know because I have one and use it for speed runs. The answer is, not much faster.... I don't know why people insist on telling me about war....

Circle of scorn, flash until mobs are dead, use riot blade combo,ether or bard song (if you have one) to keep MP up, when mobs are lower in number spread RoH combo around, pop cooldowns as necessary.

I disagree that pally is 'pathetic' at AoE aggro. while i feel warrior has to work a little less to keep aggro on groups i think this is intentional as warrior has to work harder than pally to mitigate damage against them and while pally contributes much less to AoE dps it's made up for with flashes blind effect and simpler damage mitigation to survive a little longer rather than helping mobs die faster.

Not sure if you ever played a WAR but you sir sure act like you never did....WAR are more suited to AOE aggro holding than PLD and its definitely an easier job for WAR to group aggro.

Except he's not saying that Warrior isn't more suited. Anyone that even knows the basics of a warrior's moveset knows that Warriors are better equipped for AoE tanking. He's just saying that Paladins can do it too.

yup that's exactly what I'm saying.

I'm not arguing aoe threat between war and pld, I'm simply saying to the ppl in here who are saying stuff like "at some point as pld you are going to become a viewer when aoe tanking". That's a load of bull-honkey~

Please read what is being said before you start saying annoying comments like "you must have never player war" blah blah blah....
