There is nothing wrong with having Cait Sith Minion and Moogle Cap as pre-orders for buying the game early. There is nothing wrong with having limited time to be able to get exclusive "in game" items and after that if you didn't get it by either pre-ordering the actual game or doing the quest/event "in game" then you missed it. But is was accessible to everyone by either buying the game early or playing the game and not by going on an extravagant vacation in real life which has nothing to do with playing the game online directly.

This is a common flaw I see in people's reasoning. They feel that because certain things, outside the hands of the people organizing the event, prevent themselves from going, therefore the event itself is unfair. And this is false.

The event is not unfair but locking in game items to a real life event is unfair. If that is fair then just open up the cash shop, because it all boils down to money.

No, that's how you see it. It's a bonus/reward for people making the effort to come to the event SE made for them. Most people who want to go wouldn't care if it was given or not. But it's something SE wants to give those people for going, something they want them to have to "commemorate" that they went, for when they continue to play SE's game. Does it suck that not everyone will get it? In some ways sure, but not completely.

A question was asked earlier in the thread about if there are people who would go JUST for the digital item, and yes there are. Not myself, I'd go just to go, but there are people who would go just for that one exclusive item. I've talked to people who've admitted it too.

We all pay the same monthly fee for this game and we want equal opportunity for these in game items. If most who go wouldn't care if it was given or not, then why are you still here posting? This is what you need to get out of your head. Paying for this service doesn't entitle you to have equal access to everything in game. It never has. In any other game either. It gives you the opportunity, nothing more. Same here, you have the opportunity, nothing more. It's the same as someone who couldn't complete an in game event because they had to work and didn't have the time.

And that is why they shouldn't be mixing real life with an exclusive item for an online game. Because we gamers do care. Most of the people going would have gone either way. If they want to commemorate that real life event, give them something REAL not virtual. Otherwise this turns into a lame move on SE's part to try and boost sales by incorporating something they shouldn't have, just to try and get a few more ticket sales. If that's the case, shame on them by not doing the gamers right.

Just because it happens doesn't mean it is right. Common or not. What would be the harm in not giving away a virtual item and giving people extra real stuff? Why do you think just because something happens you have to accept it that way?

Saying players have equal access to all the content is chocobo manure. I'm a casual player and as such almost all endgame gear/content is inaccessible to me. I'm won't spend 10+ hours a week raiding and running the same dungeons over and over. I also refuse to get caught up in that in game "you need to be here and this time everyweek" misery like I did in FFXI. A huge chunk of this games content is locked away from me. Should SE put Allagan armor up on the store for me to buy to put me on equal footing with the people who put the work in to earn this gear? No. What about people who work long hours, are drowning in schoolwork, can't play due to family, kids with limited playtime, ect. My answer is still No. If we are unwilling to make the sacrifice to obtain these items not only do we not get them, we don't deserve them. This fanfest item is no different.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with exclusive items being tied to promotional and/or fan events. That's how companies generate additional sales and they've been doing that for years and will continue to. Heaven forbid Yoshi-P, the devs, and SE try to reach out and have fun with the fans of the game in a physical venue.

There IS nothing wrong with them selling the stuff on the MogStation though(along with Collector's Editions item keys) well after the event for reasonable prices that don't shaft the fans who actually went to the events and bought the exclusive stuff(and I don't see why they wouldn't if it generates more profit). But if it doesn't happen? Oh well. Live with it.

If that's the case, then how about SE just sends all these players who are STILL gated behind Turn 5 even after getting 15% echo (and will mostly likely still fail at 20%) all the items that they have no access to because they're so horribly skilled that they can't manage simple mechanics. They're paying the same subscription fee as everyone else, after all. It's not fair to them that SE made some content way more difficult than they can handle.
