I hope not.
Everything that smoothes the way to a bigger item-shop is bad in my opinion.
The additional retainers are already borderline.

There is one big difference between all the exclusive items from before and this exclusive fanfest item. Anyone could get those exclusive items if they played the actual game from pre-order to now and did all in game events. Fanfest is not online accessible and has nothing to do with playing the game. Exclusive items should be able to be got in game by the gamers who play the game, not by going to Las Vegas or London or Tokyo. It's Final Fantasy Online. Just because they can do it doesn't mean they should. If they changed the locations to the south pole or the moon, would you try to feed me the same BS about getting to them if we really want it? Do I think they should sell in game exclusive items on the mog station? No but they shouldn't be doing this either. They should keep it to in game events and pre-orders only.
Just to clarify, eBay only applies to the physical items, not the virtual one. To get the virtual item, you must specify the character name and server name (or say you don't have one) when registering to go to the event. You don't get a little piece of paper saying a redemption code on it that you can pass off to a buddy/buyer/whatever. It's unclear if you're allowed to choose a character owned by another individual or not (you probably can), but it's a much more complex process than buying a number on eBay.
Yet another odd way of doing things since it's clearly an automated process to get your virtual item. It should still be sent to your character even if you don't actually check in to grab the items since it isn't even part of the items you physically pick up...
People are complaining that there is not an equal opportunity to go to this event and there are in game items locked to it. If you live near LA you immediately save hundreds possibly THOUSANDS of dollars, same for the other events. If they would simply offer some sort of virtual ticket this would not even be an issue.I think it's highly unfair to the people who go, for all you others to complain about them an item. They are going to the event. They have to pay God knows how much for flying/driving hotel, food, other things. Yes, it's. Nice that they can enjoy the event. But it's also nice that se is giving them something.
Once again:
Anyone can go to Vegas, London or Tokyo unless you can show documents from the government forbidding you from visiting those cities. The only thing that will prevent you from getting it is if you can't purchase the ticket and go to the festival.
Know what prevents you from getting pre-order item? If you couldn't afford the $100+ it cost, and now that the deadline has passed, even if you got codes on ebay they will not work meaning people lost out on those items if they didn't act on it before, yet there's no topics about that.
Same. Concept. You either can afford to get it or you cannot. The logic used here: SE should give everyone Cait Sith Minions and Moogle Caps, but they haven't...why? It was exclusive perks for pre-ordering. Therefore, answer this question: Why haven't SE mailed everyone who plays FFXIV the Cait Sith Minion and Moogle Cap regardless if you pre-ordered or not? It's an In-game item.

You know what, just to make people happy, put not in the cash shop. And you know what else, make it cost $800. That will be decent average for people going an spaying for flying/food/hotel/stuff.
Thats fair, then we all have a chance to get it.
Jk. Nope.
No cash shop. And anyway, it still stands that the item is a in game reward to show thanks to the people who attend the event. You don't have enough money to go? Don't have time? That sucks, but your not attending the event, so they aren't going it to you. Because they have no reason to thank you for attending if your not attending.
I've said a few times, although it's not deserved, give current players a fan festival special item that everyone gets that can't be gotten. Then give the people who go a that item and a different special item that they only get. That way they get their exclusive. And eclveryome else gets a current players exclusive.
^ my bad on spelling errors. Just woke up and my phone hates me when I'm half awake
It has nothing to do with "affording" or "being able to go"... Pre-ordering FFXIV online (the game we are playing right now...) on amazon or at a local gamestop is not the same thing as going on an extravagant vacation in real life for over a week to get an exclusive "in game" item for a video game. End of story.Once again:

I would like to see your answer. It has nothing to do with "affording" or "being able to go"... So having to fly across the world and pay a ridiculous amount of money to buy the ticket, air fare, hotel, food, etc...while others only need to buy the ticket because it's nearby seems fair? You must live near one of the events.
Hardly fair.
