Wow just read through this and I can't wait to tackle this new dungeon. However to touch on what Gifthorse has mentioned and I know I will get burned for this but what has the rest of the dev team been doing?
Ok so they are using a pre-existing zone that's fine as it is one we have not had access to anyway but does this mean that the area designers are hard at work on the zone redesign? I don't know I just have a feeling that SE is not telling the whole story here.
I have always felt that the game was not lacking content because it wasn't finished but more because the content was ripped out prior to launch while they figured out what they were going to do with the underlying mechanics of the game. I just have a feeling this dungeon is part of that ripped out content that they have just adjusted to work with the new mechanics. If that's true it's not necessarily a bad thing, it could mean they have lots of content ready to go and are just waiting for the core to get fixed and everything finalised before they start putting everything back in.
There is just something a bit off with this, they have a huge team 100+ if I recall correctly and they pulled their top talent from other projects to help with the rebuild of FFXIV, so you would think they would be a bit further along with all this stuff now.
Who knows though, maybe they do have a load of stuff ready for 1.20 and just want to get mechanics and core gameplay elements finalised in 1.18 and 1.19.
If they continue the trend of what they showed on the Video I would Gladly pay for content like this as well
The UI looks messy in that video because the person playing organized it that way.
Not very many games will allow you to move, scale, and adjust your main interface the way FFXIV does. This is one feature that was well thought out. Could use some new features and a lock ability, but overall how the hell can you complain?
If your on screen UI is still taking too much real estate, that's your own fault for not scaling and adjusting to fit better.
other note: video looked pretty damn amazing :B can NOT wait! also need 50 asap

I think this is a great start, but I'd personally hold off until we get to see jobs, the materia system, and whatever type of chocobo content they have related.
But they're getting there at least.
*Listens to Dungeon/Raid Music over and over and over and over......* This Music so Friggen Epic!!!
But yes I do agree this is a Start "The Beginning Foundation" of this Game Major Turn around hopefully by FFXIV Year Anni it will be a game we will all love.
Just like FFXI had a bad start in Japan but guess what on their Year Anni.. the game was really awesome to play at that point!

Obviously, but for some odd reason people love to ignore the fact that they said it will take a long time -- look at what Blizzard did for Cataclysm, even something like that takes awhile to do and that's ignoring the actual content and client changes.Wow just read through this and I can't wait to tackle this new dungeon. However to touch on what Gifthorse has mentioned and I know I will get burned for this but what has the rest of the dev team been doing?

What does this have to do with anything? Just because we don't see it doesn't mean it's nonexistent, but I actually work in this industry so I am a bit biased. There is just something a bit off with this, they have a huge team 100+ if I recall correctly and they pulled their top talent from other projects to help with the rebuild of FFXIV, so you would think they would be a bit further along with all this stuff now.
A lot of what people feel are just personal opinions on the matter, but certain people like to pass it off as fact when it comes to SE and development. Stuff in FFXI doesn't just spring up after a work week, Abyssea was in progress and announced almost a year (if not longer) in advance (when XIV was talked about at the new years vanafest) before release, they didn't just do it a week prior to it's launch. So they are busy doing stuff, they're not going to release it as they finish doing things...no company does and no MMO I've played the past 20 years (including the mudphase) has released things as they finished -- Or else we'd get a new piece of weapon and armor daily or textures for monsters/areas etc on a daily basis, which is kind of counterproductive in the grand scheme of things.
We'd also get localization fixes daily given the percission they change entries (check dev tracker).

Wait, are you guys seriously discussing graphic things about this dungeon?
Just complain on how awesome this dungeon is, which means, shut the F*ck up and enjoy it.

Everything is looking great!I can't wait to play the dungeons. Going to be awesome. I don't care if they were already in the game, as long as they're being utilized now.
And Gift, I'm not trying to be rude, but you ask why people think you're still trolling even though you might actually being giving your actual opinion? Because you cried Wolf (Troll) too many times, and now nobody believes anything you say because in their minds, it's just what you do.
I understand your concerns that they have been in the game already, however, I'm glad they're finally using them simply because:
1) It's better to use them than to leave them in the corner and just build new content over it without ever letting us experience these dungeons. Now we can use this until they release new styles of dungeons not previously built into the game.
2) It got content out to us faster than it would have if they completely redesigned a new dungeon. I'd rather receive un-used content that's already been in the game rather than wait 2-3 more months to wait on a completely new design. They already have a lot on their hands since they decided they are going to revamp the world's style.
I think they're going in the right direction here.

Insulting people in the counter argument isn't going to change their minds. It will make them stick harder to their opinion regardless of whether or not it's right, and think less of your opinion simply because you insulted them. In essence, if you want to try and change someone's mind, come up with a well thought-out response and don't be a dick.
