Is DPS food even worth using?

Because it's a waste of money for something not needed. It's even more of a waste when you're learning a fight. Literally just throwing away gil.

Turn 8 is only fight in the game where even with a perfect run, you will come very close to enrage. Food definitely helps there. But only if you're not learning the fight and can actually hit enrage reliably. If you're repeatedly wiping to other stuff then it's a waste. The food isn't helping you.

Most benefit, buffs and upgrades in MMO comes in small increment, food included. For the cost to benefit, I can't see anyone actually not using it for progression. It costs next to nothing if you craft them, a little more if you buy them.

So in the end, there really is no excuse not to use consumables during progression.

I mean 2 food per week for 6-9 is not going to get you broke.

Using Cactaur's price at ~1500 for a HQ Buttons, it would be 9,000 gil per raid nights, assuming 3 hours a night at 3 raiding nights for progression so 27,000 gil per week which is hinestly nothing. For people who have everything on farm and can clear it within one raid night, that number becomes much more little at around 6,000 gil per week if you take two hours to clear the whole thing.

And that's if you buy them. If you get them crafted, the number becomes a joke at this point.

Really cheap cost -> gain ratio right there if you ask me.

I pop food for everything. Of course that might be from my stack of boiled eggs for 5g from vendor, but yeah, why not? (and yeah, more serious food for more serious stuff of course)

Sidenote: Bugs me that so many fc's live and die by the food duration buff. Such a minute boost to such a minute cost.

Food and Spiritbond, nothing other FC buffs are useful anyway.

I use food all the time on every job. I have at least 20 deviled eggs and buttons in my inventory all the time. I keep crafting mats stored so when time allows I make about 40-50 of each. Use to use pastry fish on my healers but i use deviled egg on sch now and pons cake on whm. Maybe it's because i can make it myself but I use food for everything.
