mobs can't be immune to silence with a resistance built.

Selene you can use on autopilot, that way buffs are always up. I only use Eos for Titan and Levi Ex and t5+. Everything else you dont need the extra healing power and would be better off using Selene's support buffs.

Selene is still just as mentally impaired as Eos when on autopilot and will end up wasting buff uptime by casting regardless of whether or not you are about to take advantage of it. I'd recommend keeping her on a short leash (i.e. Obey) as well.

Selene on auto isn't too bad for stuff where you really need to be concentrating elsewhere and whilst I'm not sure why people think otherwise but her uptime on Fey Light/Glow is almost entirely 100%, /sic her on the boss as you are buffing and she will start the rotation before you engage giving your whm a little helping hand with stoneskins if applicable. The downside of this is that you lose the ability to macro Selene's heals to follow your own which takes a fair bit of the edge of of your single target healing ability.

Generally I use autopilot selene for T7 and T8. The tank damage isn't especially high and in both encounters it's far more important that I react to certain abilities and events immediately. Even the slightest distraction at the wrong point can cause a wipe.

Just ran a Tam Tara low level roulette and killed my entire party with Selene running on AI.
    Good times.

Awe...welll yes, the 'Selene' -go to crowd, ia mostly referring to level 50+ content.... low end content, you are almost always better off with Eos in Obey as you mainly only have her 'Embrace' and 'Whispering Wind' skills....Selene isn't viable until you are higher up and have access to more fairy skills.

Or you can macro selene's embrace to heal the target of your target via your DPS abilities. Then Selene is perfectly viable (If someone pointless until you have both Fey Light and Glow). The only pull in Tam Tara I can think of that hits hard enough to warrant Whispering Dawn is the final orb trash pull with the 4 cultists no?

It's been a long time since I used Selene on sic but yea saw that she cycles through the buffs and pretty well on top of that. She does lose here and there some seconds if casting embrace but all in all it's rather superb. I will try her out in todays T8 on sic. What to do with the free hotbar space now though :3 I think I'll keep using her on Obey though since I'm really used to it.
Also the macro I've described earlier is the only macro I use so it works.

I could not play a healer without macros. All of my cures are macroed to <mo> (mouse over) so I can keep the tank targeted and still cure whoever took a hit.
