Botting in dungeons: is this a thing now?

I was in an Aurum Vale the other day where both the dps we're under the floor and had the entire room pulled but the mobs couldnt hit them. I stood there and watched them do it until everything was dead and they left the dungeon and we filled the spots and cleared it the right way. This is the first time seeing bots in dungeons let alone seeing them underground and near invincible to anything.

Without knowing exactly what they did wrong it's hard to say if they were botting or not, but it definitely does happen and has done for awhile. Albeit rare.

Not that rare, I'd say my luck in the df has been 1 in 5 groups has a character that is suspect. Usually a dps but....

Generally RMT'ers don't bot as single characters in dungeons. They usually go in four at a time into specific dungeons with lots of weak mobs in the first couple areas and clear for the gil drops from killing them. Then they abandon and requeue to repeat over and over. Most likely if it really was a bot then its probably a single person with a legit account trying to bot for gil or power level while at work/school or something.

I'ts interesting, while scripting a full dungeon run seems hard or at least impossible for me, the items bought with mythos are getting really expensive, but i don't see why would any RMT script a tam-tara run even if it's to do roulettes for mythos, that's a lot of programming work when they can simply script a bray run.

Hope you reported them as you benefitted from them cheating/hacking/botting/whatever they did:P Without reporting kinda made you an an accomplise. Similar to going into coil and someone hacks/whatever so they are invincible and can kill the boss. Then you roll on the loot, in your case you gained XP from others cheating in your party.

My advice if you see someone cheating/hacking in a dungeon is to report and get outa dodge so you don't get dragged down with them.

Sounds like the group on Ragnarok who keep appearing at 17/30 in East Shroud queuing for DF then disappearing. See them there all the time as I pass to do the dailies.

Sadly I've seen many real players using bots because they are tired of grinding dungeons. They don't even mind paying an extra $10/month for the bot subscription. The ability to farm 2k myth in 3-4 hours in Lost City, while they do something else entirely is worth the risk of losing their account (2 day ban) to them, because they've been burnt out on Mythflox's Nonstop.

if anyone else has encountered another character who to all appearances is botting in a dungeon?

I have without any doubt ran into at least one. There was a Paladin in SB gear who would tank Wanderer's Palace the normal method. He'd buff himself with protect, run in and pull the mobs a bit at a time. It would run a route through the dungeon even after wipe, changing to the exact same flash scheme any time it engaged and began tanking mobs. We started having fun with it and messing around by dragging mobs places, and he'd just stand and flash where he was, not proceeding until we zero'd the mobs health out. If it was pulled beyond his targetable range, then he'd proceed as if the mob had died.

After my DF team fiddled with him for quite a while, we let him help us reach tonberry boss and immediately booted him. It was pretty cool to see how it worked, I'm not sure how someone made the software so fast either.

Also encountered in aurum vale, couldn't work out what was going on, I was on healer, and friend tank, we couldn't see the other DPS yet mobs were dying, then friend noticed a name briefly appearing underground, all trash was dead to first boss then they left, leaving us both confused
