"Trying to prove a system exists because someone doesn't know it does? Well it's FFXI, so we must turn this into an FFXI hate thread"... right?
You're trying to justify its existence here just because it exists in FFXI when XI has nothing to do in this topic, this is FFXIV ARR. Even if every single game in existence worked the same way it has nothing to do with this, the point is that they yet again implement another feature that contradicts with the so advertised armory system.

Whatever is or is not in XI is irrelevant.

I'm not justifying its existence for being used here. I'm proving that it exists in general (somewhere within the sea of all MMORPGs), which was what the person I had quoted was in denial of. Just like the person I quoted, you really need to learn to read and comprehend a lot better. I swear, the amount of failure to understand in this thread is beyond belief... but that's the internet I suppose.

Again, your hateful and biased agenda against anything FFXI, even if used as purely an example of something, is quite laughable. As I pointed out in replies, the Armoury system is purely the ability to switch classes/jobs on the fly... which is exactly what this is. That's all that is ever promoted... you folks just warp what's actually said to what you believe is being said. This puts you in the wrong.

So, When are they going to limit battle classes to a similar system?? Where you can level a skill, but either spread it around so all of your classes are ineffective, or where only 3 of them can get to maximum?

Why SE, why are you making everything so much harder for crafters for so little reward??

Everyone thought paid retainers and fantasia would be the end of it.

I am SO happy they are finally adding an aspect to this game that every person can't level to max on one character. It makes it more valuable.

I know people say the game is advertised with the Armoury System that lets you do every job whenever you want, but it absolutely never claims you can do every job EQUALLY EFFICIENTLY.

    Good job, Square Enix. ^_^

Okay, when you guys say stuff like this, all I hear is "Yay! I'm hampered!".

Luckily, you technically can get every job at maximum whatever, just not all at once. It just takes a massive amount of time and dedication.

    1. Nothing is permanent, but you will have to spend time and focus to change your 100s.
    2. The skill supposedly raises your chance of success and what items are dropped. Whether those items are the impossibly rare crafting materials or just extra commons and crystals is still up in the air.
    3. Many of these rarer items are untradeable, meaning you cannot have a friend with his 100s in another craft break down a rare item for you. Its effectiveness should be seen within the week after the patch launches. As for now, I remain skeptical as it looks more like an excuse to make people grind more
    1. Then the question to be asking is "how many desynths does it take to reach 100.00?" 70 is a different monster than 10,000.
    2. There is a difference in the importance of maxing out something between "50.00 means 50% chance of success with a 5% chance of getting HQ mats/100.00 means a 100% chance of success with a 5% chance of HQ mats" and "35.00 means 100%chance of success with a 5% chance of getting HQ mats/100.00 means a 100% chance of success with a 95% chance of getting HQ mats." The former means you must have 100.00 to do desynthesis. The later means that generalists can desynth everything, but specialists get an advantage when desynthing their specialty.
    3. They give an potential reason for players to revisit old content and it gets called an excuse to grind... I highly doubt that anything that requires desynthesis to make will be mandatory.

I am used to systems like this(ahh, UO) and a lot of people are crying about it, but I do have a few concerns that others have noted.
    1. We do not control how our maximum 300 is shifted.
    2. Whether OR NOT there will be a "Request Desynth" option.
    3. "Fish"? Better fertilizers?
Either way, I plan on maxing Alchemist desynth because no one else will.

They already do, technically. It's largely what the loot lockout for raiding does; force players to pick which class they want to improve, and forgo the rest.

You can't be the best at everything, regardless of what you're leveling. Except gathering... but that may yet change too ^_^

No it doesn't. You can stll have all classes in high alligan gear if you want, you just have to farm more.
