NINJA and ROGUE confirmed

I'm with you. Totally disappointed by the lack of an actual Thief job. What I don't understand is why those that are disappointed are getting so much grief for it. If Samurai releases as Lancer's second job and uses a spear (note that this is an example and I do not believe that this will actually happen) people would be upset about it and NOBODY would fault them for it. Players want Thief as a job playable in endgame and we are all just QQ whiners? I don't get it.

Ninja is not Thief, it is Ninja. The UI will say it is Ninja, the lore will say they are ninjas, you will be invited to parties as a Ninja, and you will perform Ninjutsu.

This is not what I wanted when I wanted Thief to be included. The notion that there may not be a Thief class annoys me. That people justify it class play with 2 nerfable turns of coil and PVP infuriate me.

Dragoon is not Lancer, it's Dragoon. It says we are Dragoon, lore says we are Dragoon, you will be invited to parties as Dragoon, you will perform....jumps...and EVERYTHING a Lancer does.
So, uhm...Ninja will do Ninjutsu, and EVERYTHING that Rogue, does...which is why ppl say Ninja=Rogue, Rogue=Thief, minus steal.
I didn't play XI, so i dont know what the fuss with THF, is. but the only thing that makes it unique, i steal....but actually that's not unique, since retainers are stealing ppls houses, and everything in it, and outside it too.
What good would steal command be, in party play? constantly just spam Mug, praying to RNGeesus, that boss will drop an extra chest?
Thief would steal, and EVERYTHING that a Rogue does, so Thief=Rogue, anyway. So if you liked Thief in XI, you'll probably like Rogue in XIV...unless you only played Thief, to steal things...
So really, ppl are enraging about not being able to steal gil, mats, gear? (and actually we dont know what skills, that Rogues get, anyway. they might get pilfer skills. So you're potentially complaining about the name of a Job)

Thief:

Steal potion: Steals a potion-like item and uses it to recover slightly pty members HP.

Steal ether: steal an ether-like item and uses it to recover pty members MP.

Steal boost: steal a boost potion and uses it to apply a random boost effect to pty members.

Trick attack: attacks critically the target and transfers the hate generated by the attack to the person between the player and the monster.

Evisceration: Finishes the rouge attack rotation and applies bleeding.

There you have, a thief job with steal abilities for those who want a thief and a hybrid support/dps class (which Yoshi already stated they want to implement) for those who oppose to thf. I'm not telling SE to use this idea, i just saying that if a part of the community want a thif job even if it's only by name the can do it in very different ways w/o repeating a job, this discussion about if it's thief or not is a bit pointless, if ppl want a thf, SE will make one, because this is a business, and nothing gives more money than listening your customers.

Again.. This still does not answer the question. I am starting to believe the only thing people are complaining about is the fact that it is not going to say Thief next to their name.

I have explained this about 20 times in this thread.

The current Rogue class is just that, a class. After you hit level 30, classes become useless and you are basically forced to be a job all the way up to end game. The only job shown for the Rogue class is Ninja. I would be hard pressed to convince myself or anyone else looking to be a Thief job that Ninja is the Thief job. Ninja job will never be a Thief, ever. Thief and Ninja have ALWAYS had a different play style, actions, look, and feel. EVEN though both jobs can hold two weapons. If you play Final Fantasy III on the DS everyone can hold two weapons as long as they are not trying to hold a two handed weapon. Yes, my mages always had dual staffs. Does all the job then be considered a Ninja because they can hold two weapons? No.

So please stop with this weirdness. I feel like only WoW people are trying to convince folks that a Thief is a Ninja, and a Ninja is a Thief. Stop with this. Thief is more than just a name. Play some other Final Fantasy games to understand what a Thief is in this series before you start saying stupid stuff like this.

I can't believe this thread is 71pgs long... People need to stop crying about THF not being a "job". We don't even know what the skillset for ROG will be, it might even have that precious Steal and Treasure Hunter that people keep QQing over. Also, please stop bitching about ROG becoming NIN... Just like every other job in FFXIV, they will get full use of the corresponding class skills. This includes that possibility of Steal/Treasure Hunter, even Sneak/Trick Attack (which personally I think ROG will have, making them great hate controllers, which in turn would make PLD a more viable tank option again).

So please X_X Just let the madness cease... This thread has gone way beyond the realm of "discussion".

Ok so then if that is the case from 2.4 and beyond you must only invite classes to your end game parties because class is just like a job in your derpy brain of yours.

lol... I did not say classes are just like jobs. I said jobs get all the skills from their corresponding class. This means that you have your class skills/traits PLUS your job skills/traits. Why is that so hard for you to understand?

Do you not understand that the job is called Ninja and its play style will be different than a Thief because of Ninja magic and hand signs? Even though it still has the Rogue actions, Ninja job will be fashioned as a Ninja, as the level cap raises you will get more Ninja actions. also There will be no Thief Relic gear or weapons? Stop telling people to pretend they are a Thief when the game and everything about the job saids otherwise.

No, being a NIN will add "Ninja magic and hand signs". Note the difference. There will be no THF relic gear/weapons because there is no THF job. Get over yourself, you're arguing over the naming of a class. It's easy to make the connection between ROG (THF) and NIN when play style is so similar.
