Intresting find on the japanese fourms

Yoshi-P stated that we would get a translation of his post soon. I really wouldnt try to take anything from a babelfish/google translate version of the post.

However, it seems to talk about his team working to make current environments more diverse (specifically mentioned redesigning Black Shroud), implementing jump in a way that wont detract from the FF feel of the game/ take away lancer/dragoon's "thunder" from being able to jump.

Apparently a decent amount of japanese players also want some sort of jump mechanic, automatic or otherwise, to navigate environments.
