    WP speed runs at some points were; kill Tonberry, sleep rest of mobs, run. I still find sleep rather pointless as I doubt it'll every be allowed properly in raids, in pvp it seems alright though I suppose. 4 mans it's meant as Crowd Control but in a standard run no-one uses it.

    I though the point of speedruns is to get to and kill the bosses as fast as possible. Granted my experience of that is in the my only run of Brayflox HM so I'm not sure how viable this is (and even thin I think it was used on coreul mobs because of the keys)

    Problem is, voice and shriek are the primary mechanics for that boss. If they could be silenced, the prevailing strategy for the fight would just be "put the bard and SCH on a silence rotation and interrupt every voice/shriek unless there's a renaud up."

    Yeah, OP I don't like this either! If the devs would allow us to use status effects more and utilize them more properly..the fights would probably feel a lot more involved instead of dodge dodge dodge dodge mechanic mechanic etc

    I miss being able to paralyze, bind, blind monsters. In open world the creatures die too fast to make those things worthwhile.

    Unless they just made it a building resistance, then the fight would be about just using it on shrieks so you didn't have to deal with Renauds other than using voice to 1 shot them. It would still require a fair amount of timing, and possibly cause some groups trouble if they didn't have a petrified Renaud up for a missed/immune silence. Obviously just because you CAN cancel a move doesn't mean you have to or should.

    The more I think about it, there are still a decent number of places where specific status ailments work, but only in places where it is 100% designed to be a part of the fight mechanic, such as silencing ADS so everyone doesn't get PARAed.
