I try to cap soldiery every week. Some weeks, I just get too busy and miss out a hundred or so. I am gearing for at least 3 jobs, though, so they get split up. My WAR is pretty much done, but I still have MNK and BRD to work on as well.

The DPS queue is what keeps me going to expert roulette as tank or healer. So you aren't going to see much of my main jobs gear cause it takes to long to get into dungeons on my main job.
But Trials Roulette? Come for the sexy black mage. Stay for the fireworks.![]()
Working on full Evenstar and then switching to full Daystar, I don't care much about coil so every piece is an upgrade for me.

ehh...i cap when i need the soldiery, otherwise most of the stuff i see from rowena is crap so i don't bother.
By now if anyone is gearing one job they have full sold tome gear by now (actually should have weeks, almost a month ago) and they move onto the weapon upgrade grind.
Least that's where I am at.

I don't cap my soldiery because... I don't gear for iLevel, I gear for stats and the more I try to achieve a certain stat spread, the less I see of the soldiery gear. And yes, I am using good tools to look for the pieces I need, like http://ffxiv.ariyala.com/ and http://xivdb.com. In fact, kind of wish I'd sat on what soldiery I have spent as there's some accessories I could really use on my White Mage. Just not really inclined to chase tomes given dungeons and crafted are looking so very worthwhile and Syrcus just a couple weeks away.
And then you realize that getting more of your main stat is better than optimizing your secondary stats.I don't cap my soldiery because... Sure, maxing your dexterity gives alot of damage, but what good is it when you're missing. Especially when you get into the higher levels of Coil. You need a minimum level of accuracy for Turns 5~ and going whole-hog Soldiery doesn't cut it. Especially around Turns 8 and 9 where I hear a Bard needs as much accuracy as the tank. In getting that minimum accuracy you need to either have been getting really lucky in Coil 6~ or skip on Soldiery and get materia crafted to give you the stats you need with dungeon filling in. And, again, we don't know what the stats are on the Syrcus or new Hard dungeons so they could trump Soldiery even more.

I wasn't talking about accuracy, but people only willing to get their best in slot and not even willing to get an item if it's not on their list.

You do realize many people read 'best in slot' as 'max iLevel'. I don't subscribe to the iLevel game, though, as I've seen many an armor set just lack in required stats for a given role. And some people seem to get ideas that only the core stats matter, that no other stats should be built up because the 3-7 base stat points you tend to lose 'downgrading' for clearly vital stats are enough break your effectiveness.
