If we're talking about colors:
Kefka
Bishie Kuja
Ul'dah with more than brown.
The other desert city 1
The other desert city 2
Lindblum
Nibelheim
Zanarkand
Golden Saucer
Yeah FFXIV's colors are pretty muted.

It would be cool to have a quest related area look like that but should the entire game? hells no21st, 1.18
Those are quest hubs, they're far of few, ment to be like the "camps" we get we now. Anywho I do think XIV is very dull and needs more colour, I miss like ff10,12 and 13, very vibrant.
As for comparing the two games, I'd rather compare XIV to TERA than what the developers do and compare XIV to WoW...... While TERA and XIV are 2 very different games, the World, the Colour and what the OP and this thread is about is the same thing in both games. But ofc both have different art styles.
As much as I love TERA I think it goes over the top a little in some areas, eg: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tg_pFLqRby8 feel like am on acid.

I don't really play, I log in maybe twice a week to say hello then logout 5mins later. I don't even leave the AG. I'm waiting for 1.8 like you but give it a week or two and i'll be doing the same thing and waiting for 1.9

This is why I love mining and crafting, you guys are waiting for battle content? why? there is disciples of land and hand, to tide you over. You would not have the need to long in and out with something to do, by the time you keep loggingin and out during updates you could have 50 armorer and blacksmith, to fuel your Disciples of war jobs.
Chopping trees is not exactly on par with mob smashing... Unless I begin drinking, but I am still waiting for the patch that lets me use a saw as a weapon, then I will rank up woodkiller. This is why I love mining and crafting, you guys are waiting for battle content? why? there is disciples of land and hand, to tide you over.
