Quick fix? Make your own party finder and put as prereq. that you have locked that item, so the one that joins knows what they'll get if they join, in your case is a bit difficult because you need at least 2 healers, but if you have a friend with a healer job bring him, so you don't end up without your item...

I can sympathize but glamours are probably one of the main (read: not only) reasons anybody does any dungeons besides BF outside coil.

I hate it when people roll Need for seals. There are better ways of getting seals than dungeon loot, so if they're rolling for that purpose then they're probably not running the dungeon just for the sake of getting that item, they're probably just doing their dailies and grabbing a bonus while they're at it. People who will actually use the item, whether as an upgrade or for glamour, is less of an issue for me.

That said, if you want a particular piece of gear, say so at the start of the run. If you're lucky, the others who can Need on the item might agree to let you have that one, especially if you offer to give them exclusive Need rights to everything else. And then stick to any agreements you make. If they break their word on the matter, I'm pretty sure that's a bannable offence. If you're unlucky and they say they'll Need everything they can, or that they also want it, or they just ignore you... well, you tried.

And if someone in your runs says they want a piece of gear that you can Need on, consider it. Don't ignore them; that's just plain rude. If you want the same item, say so politely. If you don't want the item for any reason, reassure them as such for the sake of their peace of mind if nothing else, that's just a nice thing to do. If you want it but only for seals, well, you can get seals in dozens of other ways including other drops; if you really have to get seals from drops, please make an agreement that you won't roll Need on that particular item, if they don't roll Need on anything else. The odds are still in your favour that way, and you get multiple shots at something you want. And obviously, report them if they break the agreement.

A lot of people do runs to get their glamour sets.
I farmed CT for 2 weeks straight just for glamour.

If lower ilvl players are more likely to get loot then people will equip the lowest possible gear just to get it, which makes the runs longer and harder. Or they'll just not do them at all.

I will admit I've had people at the start of Duty Finder runs say "I've got Such-and-Such on lock for this run." I'm like... No. No you really don't. It almost makes me want to do what I can to make sure they don't get that item.

(Just to be clear, I'm not talking about polite requests or dealmaking, but people unilaterally declaring that they have something on lock. In Duty Finder. Nope, doesn't work that way.)

It seems like the concept of courtesy on need/greed has changed with the generations. The older generation of MMO players (EQ/Vanilla WoW players) all look from the point of view of "The person running the specific role for a run gets first pick. Anyone else comes last". So healers got healer gear, DPS got DPS gear, etc.

The current generation of MMO players look at it differently. "Anyone who can use or wants an item deserves NEED, regardless of current role, spec or class". This isn't unique to Final Fantasy; Wildstar has the same thing going on. DPS players need constantly on healer/tank gear, tanks/healers need on DPS gear, and anyone who questions it gets destroyed on the forums by a vast majority of repliers. The number of people actually supporting the idea of "Role first" rolling seems to be dwindling.

It's the entitlement mentality. If you want your shot at a specific piece of loot, go as that job. It's as simple as that. If you want a healing chest piece, heal the dungeon. Problem solved.

I have absolutely no sympathy for these people that come in, as say a tank, expecting/demanding to get a bard piece (as in my previous example). Like one of the posters stated above, if someone comes in demanding that some specific piece of non-role loot is theirs, I'll do what I can to need/greed and prevent them.

However, I also have no problem with forming your own party of friends/FC/linkshell members and setting up your own loot rules.

It's not possible for a DPS to "Need" on tank/healer gear, or any other combination stated above. If you go into a dungeon as a healer, you will only be able to "Need" on healing gear, everything else would have to be a "greed" lot. So if you're that bothered about winning a lot, go as the job you want the gear for so that you can "Need".

LOL, I've never seen that, but I would totally react the same way! :X

There's less people out there Needing for glamour than there are Needing to turn-in for Grand Company points. Those are my real plague.

You missed a valuable part of my quote

I was saying that is how it is in Wildstar, which is a similar conundrum to what is happening here over glamour rolling.
