    Fashion is a need.

    Fashion is the greatest need.

I will never begrudge a losing roll to someone entranced by the fabulousness of a piece of equipment.

If you somehow wind up with me in DF and I do, feel free to hit me in the face with this post.

I just read it as impatience, tbh. It seems like a lot of people are in favor of a loot system that allows them to do as few runs of a dungeon as possible and still get everything. But even if such a system was implemented, and even if a person did a Party Finder party and locked a certain piece of loot all to themselves, they'd still have to pray to the RNG gods that the piece of loot they want drops. I suppose they could get lucky and get all their drops right away, but for the most part they're still going to QQ about it at some point no matter what Square Enix does.

I care about glamours more than I care about getting the best gear. So no thanks! I'd get very sad if I couldn't get glamour items cause I happen to have played the game longer and have better gear than the other player. Don't you see how silly that sounds?

Besides this is the easiest mmo I've played gear wise. Go do duty roulette for a week and you got full ilvl90 (actually a week might even be too long).
Anything that drops in dungeons are just for glamours imo (except coil 2 since that is the only end game dungeon in the game)

Let's not forget about that one guy with only one class to 50, still wearing some AF pieces who rolls greed on everything and wins.

For what it's worth, despite my being 100% OK with how the system is set-up, I will typically only Greed things in a dungeon, even if I could Need them as my job. The exception to this would be the crafting mats, coil gear (still need a ton of this) and if ever I see that battlemage robe, that sucker will be mine (been after it since launch). When in lower dungeons, I will generally pass entirely if there are new people. I don't expect people to use my same judgement, and that's fine.

ETA: The point of this post wasn't to show off how amazing and gracious I am (haha..), but rather, it's to show that while people may be happy with the current system, not everyone is a complete loot-whore. I think a lot of people may be assuming because some of us don't want change, that we need everything we absolutely can.

(That's not to say we shouldn't be allowed to need something if we want it for glamour/seals/whatever).

Quick fix? Make your own party finder and put as prereq. that you have locked that item, so the one that joins knows what they'll get if they join, in your case is a bit difficult because you need at least 2 healers, but if you have a friend with a healer job bring him, so you don't end up without your item...

I can sympathize but glamours are probably one of the main (read: not only) reasons anybody does any dungeons besides BF outside coil.

I hate it when people roll Need for seals. There are better ways of getting seals than dungeon loot, so if they're rolling for that purpose then they're probably not running the dungeon just for the sake of getting that item, they're probably just doing their dailies and grabbing a bonus while they're at it. People who will actually use the item, whether as an upgrade or for glamour, is less of an issue for me.

That said, if you want a particular piece of gear, say so at the start of the run. If you're lucky, the others who can Need on the item might agree to let you have that one, especially if you offer to give them exclusive Need rights to everything else. And then stick to any agreements you make. If they break their word on the matter, I'm pretty sure that's a bannable offence. If you're unlucky and they say they'll Need everything they can, or that they also want it, or they just ignore you... well, you tried.

And if someone in your runs says they want a piece of gear that you can Need on, consider it. Don't ignore them; that's just plain rude. If you want the same item, say so politely. If you don't want the item for any reason, reassure them as such for the sake of their peace of mind if nothing else, that's just a nice thing to do. If you want it but only for seals, well, you can get seals in dozens of other ways including other drops; if you really have to get seals from drops, please make an agreement that you won't roll Need on that particular item, if they don't roll Need on anything else. The odds are still in your favour that way, and you get multiple shots at something you want. And obviously, report them if they break the agreement.

I will admit I've had people at the start of Duty Finder runs say "I've got Such-and-Such on lock for this run." I'm like... No. No you really don't. It almost makes me want to do what I can to make sure they don't get that item.

(Just to be clear, I'm not talking about polite requests or dealmaking, but people unilaterally declaring that they have something on lock. In Duty Finder. Nope, doesn't work that way.)
