To this end, it is helpful to make a macro that notifies your party when you use it, specifically with a sound effect. Just don't go overboard on it or it might get annoying.

The one I use on PLD is:
    /micon "Spirits Within"
    /ac "Spirits Within" <t>
    /wait .1
    /party "Silence used! <se.12>"

Feel free to adjust it for your needs. The wait is important, because you only need to hit it once for both the ability to go off and the message to immediately be sent after.
wait commands in macros only work by whole seconds, so its not actualy doing anything, secondly, it doesnt matter if it has a wait command or not, chat commands from macro will always be executed, skills on the other hand are a different matter.

Not true, my macro like that uses a .5 and works just fine. It might be a minimum .5 though, idk. As for your second part, also not true, spamming that macro as many times as I want it only does the party line 1 time, half a second after I finish spamming.

No they just use the rounding system.

at .5 it goes to a full second.

It is true...An easy way to test them out is having someone measure your DPS within a time limit while you use one with macro and one with no macro, you will see the difference in your DPS.

    not true.

    Make the following macro

    /echo executing macro test
    /wait 1.5
    /wait 1.5
    /wait 1.5
    /wait 1.5
    /wait 1.5
    /wait 1.5
    /wait 1.5
    /wait 1.5
    /wait 1.5
    /wait 1.5
    /wait 1.5
    /wait 1.5
    /wait 1.5
/echo end of cycle, 19.5 seconds should have now passed.

then time it. Trust me you will actually get either 13 seconds (if the .5 doesn't get counted) or the total will be rounded up, resulting in 26 seconds instead. This is an easy test that anyone can do to verify that the Wait Command actually does round up anything with a decimal in it.
