They're not working for us either. I work in medicine and I'm not gonna rush a patient out because he wants to play with his friends. If he has a serious condition, it'll be my fault if I let him go prematurely, so I'll tell him to sit his ass down and wait. I'm gonna let him go once I'm sure he's capable of leaving the hospital.

They've got their own deadlines that they work with, and they're in charge of determining when a product is suitable enough for release.

Every project manager that works on a large scale project knows that every project will have delays in some phase. The Longer a project is, say for example redesigning a game, the more chance there is that there will be a delay. There was a reason that a FIRM date was never given, because they knew that there was a potential for delays. Video Games are most sensitive to this because one mistake in one piece of code can complicate one whole aspect of a program.

Regardless, like I said, it's not this delay that bothers me as much as the fact that they think it's perfectly fine and they will continue to work in this matter at which point they will most likely not reach that famous summer 2011 schedule they talked about.

I don't think they believe it's perfectly fine, but it's what they have to do in order to prevent complete chaos upon release. In one of the recent Translations from the JP forums, Yoshi-P actually states how frustrated he is that they haven't been able to release the content yet, and that he finally wants to start showing us stuff, but he can't until it's ready. I'm sure it's just as frustrating for the devs as it is for us simply because we keep saying shit like "they aren't doing anything! DEV TEAM SUCKS! I'M SO TIRED OF ALL OF THIS.", which is true, we are tired of it, but I think they want to show us what they are made of, and they will. Just have to wait 13 days.

Still 2 weeks and maybe a 1-2 day delay...

But hmmm, what about patches 1.19 and 1.20 being by the end of September? I'm not so much worried about the date of this patch as much as the date of the next two.

I expect that 1.19 will still get done. If they are WAY behind schedule, they may even split the content for a 1.19a/b/c patches with the 1.20 update coming maybe some time in October. That is my hope anyway.

I'm not saying they shouldn't do their own testing, what I'm saying is that every delay they've given so far was because of testing, which means IN MY OPINION (because all of a sudden people think I'm trying to convince SE to change their business practices or something) they need to seriously take a look at their testing staff/procedure and see what's going on there.

It's either that or the delays aren't for testing and if that's the case it's a whole different story.

This patch will be delayed again, early to mid August. That pathetic of a letter stated to every one Yoshi is going to put a date to appease the players, even though it's not true. Something going to come up, I bet the raids put too much stress on the servers. They like that excuse.

It's amazing how you complain about people who have played the game much more and for much longer than you have and clearly have more knowledge of it but you still have this feeling of superiority because you like to feel above everyone else.

Yes I do seriously think that. Granted I am not a programmer and my only background in programming was a 101 course in programming logic, but I do have a concept that if everything is not typed perfectly that it messes up a whole line of code and you have to check each part to find out where the problem is.

And so what if all the delays have been due to testing? They have had a LOT to test. Auto Attack. Guildleve Balancing. Enmity Algorithms. New Item Balance. and Dungeons. From what I know of the video game industry, games get pushed back ALL the time, so how this is a surprise confounds me.
