05/30/14-Returned to FF14 for the sole purpose of grinding Atmas from fates and consistantly grinded for 10 hours a day on my own time off from work from 05/30/14 to 06/14/14. Within the first 6 days I earned the achievement Destiny's Child (3000 Fates) and Let the Bodies Hit the Floor (100000 mobs killed) on the 06/07/14. As of Friday, 06/14/14, I have currently have only 2 Atmas, Atma from Outer Noscea and Central Shroud with my Summoner full Ilvl 90 gear and the proper weapon equipped the entire time.

Just popped in to LOL at the fact that someone is claiming they did 7000 FATEs in 9 days by playing 10 hours per day while also working a job on the hours they weren't playing.

Math doesn't add up at all, it's impossible.

    7000 FATES/9 days = 777-778 FATE's per day
    777/10 hours = 77-78 FATES per hour

    That is literally not possible.

Even the first part is suspect...

    3000 FATES/6 days = 500 FATE's per day
    500/10 hours = 50 FATE's per hour

    So either:

    1) OP is lying about the number of FATE's particpated in
    2) OP is lying about number of hours per day s/he played

I'm going to lean towards #1, but, either way it's not possible to do 77 FATE's per hour. That is more than a FATE per minute, FATE's don't even pop that fast.

Before someone says, "you took so much time to figure that out"... it's REALLY basic math. Took me longer to read the OP's first two posts then it did to figure out the claims were impossible.

Before you accuse me of being mean, you wanted it... so there you go.

Finally one last piece of math.

    10,000 FATEs/14 days = 714.28 FATE's per day
    714.28/10 hours per day = 71.43 FATE's per hour

    Again, that's not possible.

I'll be more optimistic, since your date range covered 16 days, which is more than 2 weeks:

    10,000/16 = 625
    625/10 = 62.5 FATE's per hour

Come on now, the whole FATE grinding thing is bad enough without posting a bunch of lies to make it seem even worse.

That was my first ATMA and it dropped at first FATE that spawnwed over my head and done it just because I were there, without even thinking about atmas. Proof that is totally RNG!

OP being the most unlucky player ever is good and all because it balances out with lucky players that got all their atmas in half a day.
You can't have too much luck in a game or Karma would spin out toward the game destruction.

Aside from the crazy over exaggerations, I have a more reasonable claim to make. It took me roughly 215 FATEs for my first Atma, I don't really have time to sit for 10 hours a day and farm, so I literally just got it yesterday, lol.

I was glad that I got it, but man did it suck. It is kind of despressing - it is really an average of 200 FATEs / Atma? Assuming you can catch a FATE every 5 minutes (which is a pretty good clip now-a-days), that would be almost 18 hours per Atma. Is that true? 215 hours to complete the quest? There's no way - please tell me I just got unlucky for my first one! lol

I still haven't even got my first one yet.

Then again, I just particpate in random FATE's (in atma giving zones) and have never really gone on a mission to tackle this.

I'd say I've done over 50, but less than 100, FATE's since getting the quest and have nothing to show for it.

It all seems to be very very random... but, someone saying they did 10,000 FATE's in 16 days playing 10 hours a day and only got 2 atma pieces to show for it is absolutely a lie based on hyperbole.

Sorry but I'm not buying for one minute that you have done over ten thousand FATEs and gotten only two Atmas. Which would have the percentage drop rate at something like 0.2%

Yes the Atma drop rate sucks, as does the idea in the first place, but posting extremely exaggerated figures for sympathy under the veil of wanting "honest feedback" just detracts from support for real cases on this issue.

I read that on Reddit while getting some info on Alexandrites. It said it was the average, but it seems to me to be the worst case scenario.
I've completed 3 atma weapons, and each of them took me around 600-700 fates to complete.

I missed the part where OP said he played 10 hours per day.

If he did 10214 FATEs on 2 weeks with only 10 hours per day, that is just amazing. Mind blowing, even. Mind sharing your tips, OP? Not that I play 10 hours per day, but I might want to try whatever legit method you got to farm alexandrite

For what it's worth, I did a bit over 540 fates to get all my ATMA. The only reason I don't have an exact number is that I had only started tracking FATEs after I had my first atma. So yeah, at least 540 fates.

The FATE gods hated me, but it's possible. Just keep at it. Western La Noscea can burn for all I care.

and LOL at the crazy numbers that always get tossed around regarding atma farming. "I farmed FATEs for 400 straight hours! I did 10,000 FATEs!".....ok.
