I'm guessing one of the reasons we can all teleport from the start is to reduce GM calls about getting stuck in terrain. Now they don't have to bother with it anymore like they did in FFXI, as long as someone as anima (and soon return will cost 0.)

Ummm....the fact that anyone can be a mage at anytime makes the 'teleport should be mages only' argument pointless. May as well keep it as it is now with the upcoming tweaks.

My guess would be that it has more to do with airships and chocobos not being ready at launch.
My argument was to make the spell for tele a mage only and level above 20 ish, so you have to level mage jobs up to get it.
And why do you want players to HAVE to level a class/job they never want to play/do not enjoy playing in order to travel quicker?
That makes no sense.

the fact you would have to run 30mins each place is a problem. is giving everyone teleport the answer? meh
and anyone be a mage anytime so it is useless anyway - thats true I dont have a solution to this except being able to change classes at any crystal only instead of a mog house, but you would also be able to teleport at that location so a class change would not be necessary. 'but i want to be able to change on the fly from battle to field to hand.' well have all of those separate so they do not require a main hand item/class change like they do now. which is a major pain in the ass too....
or just redesigning the region where its not huge empty crap would fix this too [=

I think they should make the game so that you have 1% fail rate on crafting.. so i dont have to waste mass amounts of time leveling up to craft.. and gathering should be fast as hell... i should be able to teleport to the mountain.. so i can just gather in 2 seconds and not waste any time.. oh and fighting mobs.. the game should detect if im super good and just auto kill the mob for me so i don't have to waste my time killing it. Also.. i should just have 999999999999 health and MP so I don't ever have to worry about dieing again. Matter of fact.. i would like a GM to be on instant call any time i cant figure something out on my own.. so he can do it for me.. wouldn't want to waste time figuring things out, traveling, killing mobs and playing a game, that would be pointless. Its almost like your asking me to.. Adventure or something :/ who would do that? I just want to headshot mobs and get my name at the top of a list for having everything done the fastest like people on Call of Duty! FAST ACTION KILLING! BAM! Mountain Dew and SNiping newbz! anything in between is just too much for me!!!!!!!!
