Kind of pointless to turn it off when everyone else is using it, at that point your gimping yourself. And when it comes to group play, if even one person is using things like the agro icon, you turning it off doesnt even matter.Really what is wrong with you people.. you should have learned by now that
SE is has put everything UI related on a toggle. (due to every "hardcore" player bitching)
If you don't like the level display. Turn it off.
If you don't like the aggro Icon. Turn it off.
If you don't like On screen Dmg numbers. Turn it off.
If you don't like the game Turn it off. you have options. Use them.
As for my feeling on the enmity Icon. I would be nice if the Aggro/non-aggro icon
Changes into the enmity icon. I do also think it would be nice if it changed shape.
something for the color blind. You know, Circle, square, Diamond. something like that.
So can you really turn it off?
That's not true, it's extremely useful. It's not red omg the mob is hitting me! It's red then if you keep going it will be blinking red which is when the mob is on you.The thread meter is pointless. Green, orange, or red icon ~ seriously, a traffic light. Not only is this a joke, it also is as useful as a shot in the head.
So basically you have, no hate, some hate, "OH shit! I am gonna die". How is that helping in any shape or form? It's as useful as a crash indicator in a car that goes off once you hit the wall. "It's RED! oh right , the mob is hitting me, thanks for pointing that out
I for one loose more and more interest in coming back after this update. I was looking forward to the battle and class changes. I was really hopeful it would turn the game around and make the game play more enjoyable.
Now i think i am better off just putting this game down for good. It just turns more and more into a game for a crowd i don't want to play with.
So if you get to red that's when you say to yourself "ok I should slack off a bit and let the tank build some more enmity".
When it's orange you tell yourself "I can keep going but I should not do anything that generates too much enmity".
When it's green well, you let hell loose and throw your best stuff at the mob.
That's where learning how to play comes in. Green is fine, but orange and red you need to make sure that you know what your abilities/spells does enmity-wise so that you don't go from orange to blinking red in a spell.
People who think this is an "easy button" just don't understand what a enmity icon do. The game won't become easy and people won't suddenly know how to play their class if they don't take the time t learn it. Especially with such a non specific meter as a 3 colors (4 if you count blinking) meter.

This post gets my Seal of Approval. That's not true, it's extremely useful. It's not red omg the mob is hitting me! It's red then if you keep going it will be blinking red which is when the mob is on you.

These mechanics are there because, at some point when developing the first <game / Rpg / mmo / whatever>, someone said "Hey, wouldn't it be better if we actually know how much hits we can take before dying?", and someone else replied with "Yeah, it surely would be convenient to know how close to dying I am." instead of "Hell no, this is too casual and easy!".Theres a pretty big difference between things that have been in MMOs (hell rpgs in general) since it was invented and what is now being put in to appeal to casual players. We got along without all this crap pre- WoW (some of its not even in WoW, others came later) so yah, dont try and play that BS up. There is a difference between game mechanics and additions to make things "more convenient"
Now take 500,000 and multiply that by about 10, and you have WoW's active playerbase.First off FFXI, having 500k steady subs for this many years IS good, especially pre-wow, when having 1 mil subs was fricken amazing, especially when there is how many other games keeping that rate nowadays? 2 tops? LOTR went F2P pretty quick (fully F2P, you should look into it) http://www.lotro.com/betasignup/vipchart.html (if you need some proof)
As for Aion...well most of their subs come from Korea http://mmodata.wordpress.com/2011/02/ So im not even going to bother arguing that part.
SO other then Aion (which is basically a big korean game) can you name another that holds 500k steady for even a few years?
None of the big recent games seem to be doing it, Warhammer, STO, DCU..not doing so hot...and a bunch of the rest went F2P. Rift may be the only thing, i havent seen much from it, except people saying its pretty much WoW 1.5.
Now take that 5,000,000 and subtract 5%, and you have WoW's world top players.
That's 250,000 people, half of the entire FFXI population (of what amount I don't know are actually active), who are very skilled at gaming. They all use threat meters. I'm about 99% sure that top 5% in the world are more skilled at gaming than a good amount of the people saying threat meters are for idiots who can't think for themselves.

I know man. It's like when people started adding different things to bread & made sandwiches. Why couldn't people just be happy with just plain bread?Theres a pretty big difference between things that have been in MMOs (hell rpgs in general) since it was invented and what is now being put in to appeal to casual players. Haha, lol, your kidding yourself right? WoW does not have 5 million active Subs.. They have not had those kind of numbers in years..
Wasn't it at the beginning of the year that they reached the 11 millions subs? Maybe it's not 11 millions active subs, but 5 millions being less than half of it should be about right no?
Yep, 12m are total accounts, not active.
Also, actives count rmt too
No, they count all chinese/koren game center accounts that are not used regularly or not at all anymore. Once a korean gamer activates a WoW account in on of these game centers it will count as active account forever because they never cancel it.
Thats where about half of the population numbers come from.
Is 20 dmg for the hit like 30 dmg if a RNG shoots?
No DRG for party, camp spot site with 30 dmg, but is it for 20 like 30 dmg when you no hit be it for dd, for 30 dmg instead? or half is 10 for 20 dmg?How i mine for fish?
