Oh, so you're welching on the deal. Okay, so it was all talk. I see.Sounds pretty amassing 0_0 I'm still skeptical as I can't fathom how DCUO could have achieved this. Do you think there's any particular reason why FFXIV and other MMO's are different to DCUO in this way? Can they achieve the same do you think? I'd like that more than to switch games tbh.
Of course we're being speicifc. This bad game design of bunch (not one, not two, but many) long (don't forget this is a global game, English is not my native langauge and I read slow) cutscenes, is not common in ONLINE games.
So yes, we're being specific
No one is talking about 3 second boss encounters. And you know it. (I hope)
This whole debate is about long chains of cutscenes... So PSO and PSU don't belong here.

The point was that he was looking for a game were people weren't rushed and were allowed to view things LIKE cutscenes or do things at their own pace. As backed up by the quote " I can get a group easily for any group content in under 20 minutes and be free to watch scenes, explore and play at my own pace without being kicked or harassed?"
This implies that he is talking about the way players treat others that want to take it slow. Watching cutscenes is just the vehicle for this debate in XIV. And it only done once. I don't think ANYONE has ever defended the guy who wants to watch the cutscenes EVERYTIME.
Not wanting to watch cutscenes does not equal speed running. You can skip cutscenes and play the run at your pace. (Notice the word "Play", not stand around, but "Play".)
By asking players to wait for CS watchers you don't ask them to not speed run, you ask them to stand there and do Nothing.
Big differance there.
Okay, I said nothing about that. So.. random words day?Not wanting to watch cutscenes does not equal speed running. You can skip cutscenes and play the run at your pace. (Notice the word "Play", not stand around, but "Play".)
By asking players to wait for CS watchers you don't ask them to not speed run, you ask them to stand there and do Nothing.
Big differance there.
The CS watchers defenders don't want others to "take it slow". They want others to stop playing. "Taking it slow" to me, is playing (as in DOING something) at a slow pace, not speed running. But it does not mean not playing at all, or standing around.

Again, I didn't bring any of that up. He did. He was talking about wanting a game that allows players to take it slow. Which is what we are talking about. We aren't talking about standing around. Watching cutscenes is playing the game at your own pace. Just standing in the cutscene would be what you are describing, which is not being talked about or defended.
I commend that you support the new players, and I try to do the same. What I've learned (the tricky part) is that everyone has the right to queue on duty finder, whether it be for a story run or a fast myth farm run. When the rest of the group don't want the same, it's difficult to handle and that when both sides can be know to be rude and pushy. I try not to be anymore and while I'll stick to my guns, I won't call people selfish anymore or get nasty.9/10 times, I've noticed most people aren't in as much of a rush as people seem to think they are to complete the Myth Roulette for Main Scenario. However, there is always ONE extremely vocal person, who pushes the person to skip - and everyone else is going with the flow. It quickly becomes like a mob mentality and people converge on a single person in a rather vile manner.
This is why I will stick to my guns. Are you new to the dungoun? If yes, do you want to watch the cutscenes? If so, I'm on your side. That is all there is to it. I'm doing this for Myth Roulette bonus too, but I'm not going to step on -you- to get there. And those that think that Roulette is your personal speed run tool? Sorry to say, don't be a hypocrite and do what you tell others to do - make a party finder for your speed runs. The statement goes both ways.
x_x Tule, I feel like you're annoyed by my posts somehow?? Of course I'd rather not switch from a game (that I'm not actually complaining is bad!) to one that I'm skeptical will be able to achieve what I consider the impossible (based on human nature / or the general attitudes of our society).
The question was actually meant to highlight that I don't think any other game can achieve this happy situation that I and others were expecting without compromising something else we enjoy about the game. Of course I don't want to waste my time so that's why I'd love if you can explain how you think the game achieves this. Obviously it could be that there's a downside I'm not happy with, like as you describes with the challenge being greatly lower and aimed at a younger audience.
Besides that I'm into the fantasy style and art of FFXIV and not so much DC hero's, so I'm not literally willing to hop into any game that can offer fast queues, with cutscenes and no rushing. I know that's what I said, but I was trying to make a point rather than literally looking for another game to play. I thought that was clear, but sorry if that came across as insincere.
Already explained it. It is casual. Like I said, so is CM/Prae. I'm not saying that have a harmony of strangers in every instance, but it does exist commonly, because it gets to the point where there is no need for a 8th member, or a 7th, because of how casual it is. Which is why I don't play it. Which is probably why you won't play it. But CM/Prae are in this game that you do play, and they have that level of casual that doesn't require a 8th or a 7th. And people only want to do it once. You act like they do it all the time. Same with the person who ask me the TYPE of cutscene. Well no one is defending person who wants to watch Tonberry King spawn for the 1,000th time. There are certain circumstances. If you're saying no game exists that is EXACTLY like this. Okay, you're right? So what? That means nothing. Unless you were talking about player behavior, then it could mean something. But I just told you not all games are like that. Then people are come in saying the games I mention don't count because they aren't EXACTLY the same? That isn't the point. Or if it is, then it is a point that makes no sense and holds no weight. You brought up a point, I countered that point. Now you're expanding it with claims about art and type of game? The idea of this thread was about player behavior, nothing else. And if it isn't, then anything posted in this thread is wasted breath and I'll leave.
Tule, if you're looking to counter a specific sentence then I already admitted you win. I was never looking for a new game to play. That was just an example to prove a point, but maybe a bad one. I'm just trying to express the idea that I see you do understand. It's about player behavior, yes.
I used to get angry at other players who didn't allow me or others to slow down and view cutscenes, or who would continue into boss fights without me or another player who was still in the scene. I have called players selfish in Prae runs for not waiting for another player, and I'm no longer proud of it. The reason I posted is to explain why I don't get angry about it anymore, and why I think the system is OK, and hopefully pursuade some others not to get angry or upset by people farming on duty finder (so long as they aren't rude / offensive). I also wanted to make some suggestions to make the system even better (particularly for new players) with changes to the party finder notifications, etc.
