You obviously only played to 60 (or 70, or 80, depending on which expansion you played) and actually thought that was the end of the game.
You saying it's mindless shows me you never actually tried any of the endgame dungeons.

Why must a game be all about end game? why can't their be challenge within the beginning and middle of the game?

Man, that aggro icon is blinking like crazy right now.

Because there's a difference between "challenge" and "pointless guesswork". A grind mob that utilizes multiple abilities that you actually have to pay attention to is a challenge. Not seeing the mob's level isn't a challenge, it's pointless guesswork. I've already made my many arguments as to why something so minor as an enmity gauge shouldn't be a reason for anyone to think of what makes a game difficult or not. Here, I'll quote them for you in case you missed them.

http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...585#post216585I honestly don't understand why the lot of you are complaining about simple battle modifications like these. Seriously? You complained about seeing mob level and whether they were aggro or not because it made the game "easier"? You're complaining about seeing an enmity gauge because it makes the game "easier"?
Honestly, if that's what you think makes or breaks a game's difficulty and fun, I feel absolutely sorry for you.
It's amazing how so many old FFXI players are so shortsighted. Hell, I played FFXI religiously and even I see that minor things like mob level and enmity are nothing when it comes to terms of difficulty.
Sorry to bring more WoW logic here, but that game focused more on fun boss mechanics than sitting there derping about when to attack and when not to. Things like bosses that reacted to sound, so if you moved you'd get aggro, all while things blow up around you forcing you to think strategically about when to move and when not to. Bosses that put a debuff on you that kills you within a short duration, which you had to pass around to other players, making sure you don't pass it to someone who didn't already pass it or you both die, all while kiting slime mobs that can explode and kill all 25 people in your group. If this threat meter will allow the Devs to focus on better battle mechanics rather than having to make more fights where the hardest element was claiming the mob, then I'm all for it.
Managing threat? That's what you consider fun and difficult? So much so that an enmity meter will break the game for you? What the hell is wrong with you?
And therein lies the problem.
People want difficulty, but they don't want complicated.
Sorry, you can't have both. I'll gladly take gimmicks over simple boss mechanics if it makes fights more interesting, dynamic, and difficult.
Seriously, everyone says WoW is easy. FFXI was -- and still is -- my favorite MMO, but the hardest fights in FFXI are jokes compared to the hardest fights in WoW. The reason for this is because Blizzard got rid of the more mundane tasks such as guesstimating enmity and DPS being done, and allows them to focus more on what would make a fight difficult and exciting.
I don't find standing in one spot spamming my WS and eventually waiting for my enmity to go down as fun. I want to keep fighting, avoiding things, switching targets to bigger priority enemies, etc. It makes the bosses feel more epic and a lot more fulfilling after beating them.

No longer do i want to entertain answer dependent folk as yourself. My time is simply being wasted. Please continue to correct me as english was not one of my favorite subjects, nor do i give a shit in which of the three theiy'res i use.

And figuring out enmity levels in a game is not a favorite subject of some players of this game.
Yet, it is ok for you to bash them for not liking to figure out enmity levels in a game, while it is not ok to bash you for not liking to figure out how to spell in real life?

I got bored reading your very lengthy posts... It shouldnt be very hard to figure out a grindmobs level... since your grinding it.... What about all the other mobs you will rarely encounter? Good thing you know their level too.. because now you can attack/avoid them. Oh btw.. it clearly aggros so dont get to close.. man. good thing i knew all the answers up front because if i hadnt.. i might have died learning the answer.. that would have been AWFUL! Oh and hey, if we do end up fighting it... ill let you know im about to steal hate.. so that it makes it easier for us to kill this thing.. instead of simply using my brain.. who would do that?Because there's a difference between "challenge" and "pointless guesswork". A grind mob that utilizes multiple abilities that you actually have to pay attention to is a challenge. Not seeing the mob's level isn't a challenge, it's pointless guesswork.
