What confuses me the most about these maps is that the majority of them are ridiculously easy, and can be soloed by anyone... just one mob or a group of them with very few adds that spawn. Then you encounter maps like this, where it COULD be possible to solo (easier for smn, yes), but the level of difficulty is much, much greater than other maps. My FC tends to do our maps in a group, just to get them over with and because there is safety in numbers... juuuuust in case. I would probably be happier with the maps if they were all of similar difficulty, because the majority of the time, my FC group ends up killing one mob and that's it. XD
Also, we really can't compare Novus to the i110 weapon from coil. That's a raid weapon. You can get your novus by grinding maps (safety in numbers, and the maps aren't hard that way), myth, and having money or SBing yourself. That's not difficult. That's a grind. Call me crazy, but the most difficult part of the relic storyline was the first part -- because you ACTUALLY had to clear fights (and by today's standards those fights aren't even that hard). Since Zenith, you haven't had to clear any 'difficult' fights. Just dungeons, myth grinding, and FATE grinding to upgrade your weapon. The i110 weapon from coil... you need to clear T7, get the drop, hand it in for 1300 soldiery AND the tomestone, then clear T8, get THAT drop, and use it to upgrade the weapon. There's a level of RNG (rolling against others) and it can be frustrating unless you have a full 8/8 static with rules about equal distribution of the tomestone/sand.
SE was misleading by saying all Alexandrite maps are soloable (it does say that when you decipher maps). They should adjust this, or make them all difficult. Like I said, it's so silly that most maps are really easy and then every once in a while you'll get a map that facerolls you. Better safe than sorry...
