The were hyping Grand Companies rather heavily for a week or two, and then just stopped completely. It's very strange.

I was on the lodestone and saw the page and thought exactly what you just said. They've announced it months ago and then hyped it like crazy, only to stop talking about it. It made me very curious as per why there isn't any more info about it....

Could also be that a specific feature that is tied to Grand Companies is not ready yet and they don't want to announce anything until it is.... hope we can get someone to comment on this.

Anyone thinks it will be similar to the Conquest system from FFXI? As in Grand Companies will compete for control over regions. Will probably be more in depth... done with quests, leves, PVP etc... with maybe ranks and rewards.

This is exactly what I had in mind, and they stated before that there will be a form of progression within the companies, associated with rewards.

I see the companies as a parallel way of progressing in the storyline.

That would be nice! I'd love to see this kind of system in FFXIV
