I wouldn't say "only". I playing on PS4, macros are necessary to save cross-bar space. I personally can't have more than 2 slots to switch between, and i'm cheating at that to only have 1 cross-bar and 1 half bar when L2+R2 are pressed
I wouldn't put any macros in with wait timers, every time i've done that and been in a stressful fight its always messed me up, causing me to think things haven't been pressed or i did something wrong.
Some macros i use:
ruin with ruin II to activate if i'm running
/micon Ruin
/ac "Ruin" <t>
/ac "Ruin II" <t>
I start my DOTs with BioII and so i know whenever i'm gonna start a rotation i always have RS on when its possible. don't use wait on this one just double press the button, adding a wait makes it too slow
/micon Bio II
/ac "Raging Strikes" <me>
/ac "Bio II" <t>
/micon Shadow Flare
/ac "Swiftcast" <me>
/ac "Shadow Flare" <me>
Bane can add Garuda's Aerial Slash to
/micon Bane
/pac "Aerial Slash" <t>
/ac "Bane" <t>
you could also add a miasma II in there if you wanted to and just use it for trash SR mobs, one less click
obey and heel, need this
/micon Obey
/ac "Obey" <me>
/ac "Heel" <me>
you should have sic and place also on you hot bar, but this just rolls 2 buttons into one.
virus and eye for an eye, pretty useful if your group is asking for some extra def when healers don't have eye for an eye
/micon "Eye for an Eye"
/ac "Virus" <t>
/ac "Virus" <tt>
/ac "Eye for an Eye" <t>
/ac "Eye for an Eye" <tt>
I think i have a few others, can't think of them. Truthfully, they are just meant to have actions go off that would normally always have one fallowing the other (RS then BioII for ex.) But ya, avoid "scripting" your fights. Its not reliable even though it sounds easier.
