because those other mmos didnt have every class on the same character.
In those games if you got gear from a low level dungeon, it was completely useless (save wow after the transmog patch)
this is not the case here.

Heh you're kidding me ?
One of them allowed you to equip every single piece of gear on every class. The only difference was the damage (weapon affinity by class) and the stat allocation (got stats every level to put on your favorite element, and stat caps before new points costing 2, 3 or more stat point were different per classes)
The others had usually only weapon restriction, with very few armor restriction. Because the drops were very bad, I give you that. But still you could do pretty much what you wanted.
On the other hand, I don't see why your point is relevant considering mine. It's just a if you said "I don't want you to be able to try solo T9 because you'll get T9 gear for all classes". (I really doubt anyone could solo any trial/raid anyway...)
I thought we were talking about dungeons ? Gear so irrelevant to end-game that it only serves GC's expert delivery purpose anyway ? Or maybe you're afraid that they'll get more GC seals than you do ?
Oh and btw, in those games, when you got gear "useless" because class or level restriction, you were able to sell it, something that FFXIV refused. because "people could buy their gear and it would not be fair" right ?
