Which brings us to the original intent of the system, random encounters with endless possibilities with a central theme of helping players running through the story and/or completing quests/hunts.

This is not the place to judge players because it is more about situational help and less about friendship related help. You can ask people whom you know to act how you think they should act but don't expect the same from strangers.

We're no one to be judging people we don't know. No one owes you anything in a random chance encounter. In Duty Finder let it work how Square wants it to work.

That doesn't mean we can't provide advice. Advice which is often taken with a grain of salt and the phrase "let me play how I play." No one is forcing anyone to do anything, but simply giving advice is like pulling teeth. It's at that point that their refusal to even take advice becomes such a hindrance to the groups success that what Nero said becomes VERY true. "But don't expect the same from strangers" falls apart pretty quickly when you get stuck with a tank refusing to use Shield Oath or Defiance because "let me play how I play." It is a real hindrance to the group. A real waste of time for 3 other players. All because "let me play how I play."

People need to be open to criticism when they are obviously learning, and people giving the advice need to learn to simmer down. If the person won't take your advice just leave.

Helping ppl through content, and helping ppl improve on their job.....
Any reason you can't do both?
Why even have a chat in DF, if all you're *supposed to do* is carry ppl through?
Why not just go into DF, and afk, and let the rest of the pt clear everything for you? Just let them do that, if that's their play-style.

Isn't exactly HELPING when your actions cause trouble to other party members that wants to complete the dungeon.

Sorry for asking the obvious but: Have you tried asking them to find out about it?

Duty Finder will always be this way. At the end of the day remember that everyone is trying to contribute and that no one has the right to tell anyone how to play. You can however leave the party or vote to kick.

But I would caution our FFXIV community in NA/EU to treat new users in a way where everytime they make a few mistakes that they'll kick them.
Why caution? Because growth of an individual and allowing for this growth is what keeps a healthy community.

Without a healthy community that's inclusive you end up with a dying server made up of the few. A country without new faces is a bad country

Ask Yoshida why he treats FFXIV like a country

All you guys need to do is create a balance.

    - Player is doing poorly: bad rotation, getting hit by AoE, not killing adds, etc. Give helpful advice that would help everyone get through in a polite manner. You are not a drill sergeant or a college professor (unless you are IRL I guess). Ignore the time factor, just talk it through nicely.
    - If you are the player doing poorly: be willing to listen and take some of it to heart, barring any actual insults. If you are trying and legitimately have issues keeping up, consider running with FC-mates or learning groups a few times to get the hang of it. Not necessary, but could be a nicer experience for you.

It's very simple, just don't be a dick to each other and everyone will have a more pleasant experience.
