Yeah it should be fairly painless as the foundation is already there, just a matter of having the text string that shows the game time, alternately show the real time, which is information that FFXIV already obtains (as seen by /clock). It would be nice to not have to run some larger application like XFire or Steam just for a clock on a game (and as I said, when the PS3 version comes out, we wont have that option). Its just one of those things that would make me love FFXIV more, and I hope they add it. Or at the very least, as someone said, allow for user UI mods.

We already have an on screen date/time it is just game world, not real world, what harm would there be allowing you to choose which time you wish to show?
If you're so out of touch with time that you need a clock constantly staring you in the fast, that's a problem YOU need to fix, not something the game should be forced to accommodate for.

While I agree that it wouldn't be a huge issue to add it to the interface, the same can be said of many other things. As I enjoy the very clean UI the game currently has, I'd rather it not be cluttered up by something that I consider superfluous. If it can be toggled off, it's less of an issue, but as I said before, I think a good compromise is just to put it on the menu screen.

You cannot tell me you have never participated in an activity and lost track of time before. It happens so often, to so many people, that we have a common saying "Time Flies when you are having fun." An on screen clock helps to curb this phenomenon.

That is not a good compromise as it removes the most important aspect of the on screen clock, and that is to be always visible. Unless I am crafting, I rarely ever open that menu, so tucking it away in there doesn't help any more than /clock does.

The UI is already cluttered with a bunch of (what I would consider) unnecessary items, and if you had read my posts in their entirety, you would have seen that I suggested, multiple times, to have it as a toggle where the existing on screen game date/time could be optionally switched to real world date/time, which I think would be the ideal compromise (except for those few who want both on screen!).

Checked with the dev. team about displaying the time in-game (aside from the manual display method, of course). They said that if there is a major call for it to be added, they'll discuss its implementation. So... is there a huge desire for this?

Like this post if you desire an ingame clock.

Like this post if you do NOT desire an ingame clock.

I don't think there's a major desire for it for most people. Clocks on laptops, walls, cell phones, and many other places. I personally wouldn't object to it as long as it didn't use normal screen real estate (as I said before, if implemented, I think the side menu would be best, that way it wouldn't be cluttering up the screen the rest of the time). FFXIV's UI is very clean when it comes to how your screen real estate is managed, and I'm wary of adding unnecessary gadgets to it without a strong reason.

So for me, personally, the vote would be a NO, with caveats as outlined above.

Anyone can click on a like button. But I feel that if you can't articulate your opinion and reasoning with words, it's not worth taking into consideration.

I say in future if possible just add a widget where players can turn on/off through config or something... but don't see a big deal for this one. /clock works just fine for now imo.

    I'm so-so about this feature.
It's good to have but not really necessary.
I need the Dev team to focus on other matters and streamline the UI

As with all things, I would like to see something like this but have it as an optional widget to add or remove.
