Rank 10 Chocobo Barding

That's what I feared. So (unless SE can clarify otherwise?) I'm guessing my best bet would be to just not Rank up until the skill reset arrives. As I want the WHM barding not the DRG one.

I think you'll be ok. If it appears like it does when you hit rank 10, odds are it's the same when you respec your chocobo.

At the very least, I don't think you'd keep the drg one AND get the whm one. I'm quite certain your whm one will take away the drg one if you respec.

My guess is, when you go to reset chocobo rank points you will have to unequip down to bare equip. That way you can't keep the rank 10 equip from one tree and then level up chocobo as a different class. Otherwise I'll respec my chocobo as tank, equip tank armor, respec again as full attack. I'd rather have the tank barding, but an attack chocobo.

I just got rank 10 chocobo. The barding goes right into your chocobo's barding gear tab. You will however have to pick up your chocobo suit from the guy in Gridania.

I've never heard of a barding unlocked by a Chocobo being Rank 10 in any one of its three roles.

All I've heard is that, if you get a Chocobo to Rank 10 in general, you get a Chocobo Suit for your character, but nothing about any barding.

I have tank/healer :V So I can't even get a barding.

There's hoping that with the items that let you level beyond rank 10, you'd be able to keep the chocobo as hybrid and still obtain a barding.
I am in the same boat and started leveling my chocobo long before it was publicly known that you could even get bardings. The thing is i really like my heal/dps hybrid and really dont want to respec it tbh but i DO want the DRG barding T_T

Check out the first three: Defense line, Attacker line, Healer line. (Last one is BLM and not obtained from rank 10)

When you reach rank 10 AND you put all your points into one line, you will unlock the barding according to the line.

And yes it should be made so that if you reset, you lose it. so when you respec into another line rank 10, you will unlock the other one.

If you respec and you get rank 4 in all 3 for example, you wont get any.

Simple as that.

Well. I learned something new today. Though considering you'd need to be Rank 10 and put all points into a single line, that makes me question how a respec would work. Would it reset the points so you COULD respec into the other two, or would it reset your Chocobo to Rank 0 and completely reset it?

Though if you think about it in the long term, chocobo breeding is coming soon, so it is possible that a player would be able to get all of the bardings with enough work once that becomes a thing.
