Can your really say that raids in pick up groups always go very well? I often get trolled by people. Sometimes the trolls will just repeatedly try to wipe groups on purpose or will wear inappropriate gear (not even talking about being not geared, talking about wearing a snowman suit when they are the main tank). At least, when I frequent groups with guildmates, they know not to be a total jerk, or odds are, we could take some other person for the next one.

Sure, some pugs go well though, it's always a random thing because there is no accountability. You will never see them again most likely, so people have the sign to act like a total jerk. :P

Not sure I understand anyone's aversion to being in a "static", but I know it's something many don't want and I accept it. Personally I just wonder if it's just this game, or games in general now. When I most recently played Rift for instance, while there were many pug raids, most people always were cheerful about having their static that could get further because they practiced hard and figured it out. There were many alts (I had like 2 or 3 myself) and I would frequently pug raids on my alts and have lots of fun, even occasionally get to the last boss (but not often).

There's not real aversion to being in a static, but it's not always possible to jump up and say "hey, I'm board and have enough time, lest run a raid!". This is the kind of situation many people are faced with that have work schedules that often change weekly. Most of the time I can get several people together for whatever whenever, but finding a full party of buddies to run any time rarely happens.

And I would honestly LOVE to move on and tackle the hardest content possible, but I find it difficult because of the need for a static. I don't mind having 1 or 2 friends I run a lot with, but I don't like being forced to stop and say "Nope, can't run this because I have to run it with this group later." It's just really unappealing to me. I've never played an MMO where I've been told I can only run this dungeon once a week (as you may have guessed, I haven't played a large amount :P), and it's actually a hard concept for me to wrap my head around. I understand why they do it, I just think it's odd that SE has to police the new content to make sure people don't burn themselves out on it.

On alts, I would have an alt if I got some kind of benefit from it. If I were to make an alt now, I would honestly probably make one purely for roleplay purposes (not something I do, but it's the only reason I could see making one.) I have access to all the classes on one character, I find the level grind to be the most annoying part of MMOs, I don't want to do it with more than one character just to be able to run locked content more than once a week.

I would love to run the newest content as soon as it's out, but statics just don't fit me. Getting a couple of friends or FC members together to run content on the other hand does. But with weekly lockouts, that just isn't going to happen.

Have you looked into other servers? I'm sure some servers are more dedicated to raiding than others. I've heard rumors Siren is one that is, but honestly I wouldn't know since I'm not into that scene :P
