Fine the way it is, as crafting and gathering are extremely easy to level and just buy the level 50 gear from marketboard.

Don't need everyone and their mom to be able to do the most difficult craft/gather. The people that are willing to spend the money/time should be the one that have access.

It would make more sense for the requirements for the 3* crafting to be this high if the gear you made was really good. But it's just ok unless you're wanting to do coil immediately and can afford to dump a ton of $$ into the gear and extra materia melds.

Dumping a bunch of money into earning the i70 main hand, getting all the HQ gear and then not just melding, but overmelding all your gear is a bit excessive when what you make is both not all that special, but then requires a bunch of materia to make it decent.

You can get away with mostly patricians. Get the new headpiece that you can use on all DoH classes (no melding required), then get DoH specific main hand/offhand/chest pieces. If you max meld all of your other pieces , then you'll be able to reach the minimum reqs for the 3* stuff without *too* much overmelding on the class specific chest/offhand pieces.

Then again, I started and got the GSM main hand, but I haven't bothered finishing the overmelds for it or bothered to get another main hand for another DoH class. There's nothing I want to make. Hopefully they'll add some more i70 cross class DoH gear (like the head piece) in 2.28/2.3 to make the melding requirements for the class specific gear (chest/offhand) less stringent.

I find it redundant that I have to meld gatherer gear, miner in this case as it is the only one I have a t 50 currently, just to farm topsoil. I'll say it again for those that didn't get it. Topsoil. Seriously, how did dirt become so hard to dig? Why in the name of God was it thought to be a good idea to restrict gathering classes in such a manner I'll never grasp. I never complain about anything SE implements, but this is where I voice a concern. I cannot justify spending millions of gil on materia just to harvest earth, rock, wood, etc. A grade 4 gathering materia on my server is 200k minimum. Not happening, that's just climbing a mountain only to get pushed off the top.

^ This is precisely why i started this thread today. My frustration came from this experience today, and it made me think of it in its entirety to be a bit excessive. Glad you share my frustration.
