this is how I am, if I'm told I'll forget, show me I'd still probably forget, but if I'm doing it I'll remember, like in CT the first time I was there, I was there the other tank wanted me to MT the atomos adds even tho he was in Soldiery gear while and I was in standard AF and maybe 1 or 2 pieces of DL gear.
True, but then again, knowledge is power....and you shouldn't expect 7 other random people to just out of the kindness of their hearts teach you random endgame content. Especially when there are 'established' ways PuGs do things...meaning DF locks your party into more or less 2/2/4 and there's very little change in how each group decides to clear the content. No one is asking you to spoil the story, nor is anyone forced into learning the basics of what to do/expect beforehand. But if you really truely want the 'blind' 'i'll figure it out as I go experience' you really should make your own group, as that is the only way you'll really accomplish that. Otherwise, what you're really wanting is a carry...or for others to do your homework for you (explaining the battle before engaging). The plague of youtube warriors has been here since day one, and it will never go away. If you do not know a fight, that is what duty finder is for. If you are in a party finder, and do not know what a fight is, especially if it is a group listed as a kill group / farm group, you are going to get chastised for it. Otherwise, you were not wrong for going into t4 without previous knowledge in duty finder.
Also, people rely too much on DF/PF and not enough on Statics/Free Companies/Linkshells etc. Most of the content Post Mainstoryline is really designed for a static group to do....so it's cool that you wish to 'pug' it....but again, you're relying on those other 7 people to know the basics of the fight and be semi-skilled, you should be too.
If you DF it without any prior knowledge fine, but tell the party, and let them decide if they wish to help you. Also, wait for them to tell you pointers about the battle if they decide to help you, don't just rush in Rambo style.

In XI, the videos had mages doing azure. I fooled around with ninja and discovered that I was a great light builder. I could have just followed the norm/videos, but i leaned on my own understanding. Most ninjas in the videos are /war, but I came to abyssea /rdm (not saying i was the first /rdm).
Actually, I read some guides after beating games and discovered that I was more comfortable using my method.
You are watching someone else play; perhaps picking up their bad habits. Your experience may vary.
And that's the problem. The comparison is there, you just dismiss it out of hand and call it bizarre instead of accepting it as a valid view.
And that's why I said earlier that there are ways to make people better learners. Not just simply copying either. I've seen videos of people doing a fight a certain way, and can see during said video, a better way to do it, due to how they did it.In XI, the videos had mages doing azure. just did ifrit ex yesterday joined a pf group didn't know jackwon at the end.
read? pah lease!
Mr.happy.
His videos are probably the best out there as he explains the whole fight from top to bottom with video segments looping over and over till the next phase.
He takes the time and makes videos probably cuz he earns money i think and probably cuz he enjoys doing it?
More power to him but because of his videos, douchébags will think they r entitled after watching and clearing the fight.
Mr. Happy doesn\\'t get enough credit imo, cuz u\\'ll see a lot of other similar clear videos on youtube shortly after a video post from him.
I made a t5 learning group many times for my fc cuz i want them to pass it but when i do some fill ins will join and start harassing ppl if they didn\\'t watch videos, i\\'m like stfu cuz i\\'m going to take my time and talk them through it/ answering questions.
Around the time Ex primals came around I stopped giving a crap about Mr Happy's videos. The Ifrit Ex video was the final nail in the coffin for me when "his method" was a pain in the ass for healers, when a friend came to me with an alternate method that was a much better method in my opinion
That said there's so many others out there who do a much better job explaining mechanics and more importantly, the REASONING behind why they do X or Y as a static (I have no idea if Mr Happy does this now as I've unsubbed from him since near the launch of 2.1). In a previous post I said I loved Light's T8 video guide, I've also watched his T7 video to death but my static did positioning a totally different way. It's more about using the videos to learn the mechanics and how they work in a real time environment then copy pasting what the group does.
Watching these guides did not make my team magically oneshot T6-8, but what they are doing however, is easing our learning process. That's what the guides were made for afterall. The real subject of the thread is the OP came into a T4 DF without doing the slightest bit of research and asked the team for the advice. Him receiving the information from a player in the party is no different then a youtube video or text guide, other then instead of taking the time before the queue to take a quick look, you took the time after the queue.
And with that I'm going back to lurking
/ja "Hide" <me>
/p Ninja Vanish!
When did online ( GAMING ) become homework for those with less playtime than others ? This whole mentality of watch YOUTUBE is F..ing lame.
What if youtube did not exist ? What if this ( GAME ) was meant to be played like a VIDEO GAME instead of .. a cookie cutter you do it exactly like everyone else.... and for WHAT ??? The next peice of shit gear that SE deems necessary to have before the next Patch / Update ????
You know what.. i sit here and grind out my daily content ... reach the cap on tomes.. and wonder WTH for ? Hours spent doing the same FN lame ass dungeons over and over to get TOMES to spend on the next piece of gear.. so i can look like every FN body else. It hit me.. about the time of this POST. THIS GAME IS SHIT and so is the BS >> KNOW THE FIGHT B4 you Come to FIGHT mentality.
