    Yes, stats should not be bounded to color. We said it already when they bounded extra stats for gears on the gears color once (You want extra str on your body? then it need to be red. you also want extra str on your pants? then the pants need to be blue).
    But it would be good if not every color would be common, but also some rare colors and special colors which is harder to get (maybe a boss fight reward or peiste treasure map reward, or a "level up 3 chocobos to get all 3 bardings" achievement reward)

    I can absolutely understand that kind of rarity-restriction on color. Certain colors, such as Black, White, Gold, Silver, and even special multicolorings (FFXIII-2's Raging Chocobo Coloring, for instance) should definitely be rarer, but should not affect stats whatsoever. Though I definitely believe that Yellow, Green, Blue, Pink, Red, Purple, and other such colors should be available right away through a gil vendor or something.
