To be the first to show my opinion on the issue, being an FFXI Player for 7 years, it gave a good sense of accomplishment every time you leveled high enough to rank up your jewelery and gain awesome stat bonuses that could help you out quite radically in fights.

Now, with FFXIV in it's current state, there is no real incentive to tier up your jewelery, as the higher stat rings cost more slots, and some believe are just eventually not worth the extra hassle of tiering up. The system is obviously flawed when people would rather level 1-50 with Silver/Brass rings, rather than get something which was obviously originally intended to be for s you gear yourself up.

Another angle I would like to show is the crafting side of things, and being a Goldsmith, I am involved with this too. There is a screeching halt for crafting jewelry beyond R30 for the most part. no one really cares for the high stat rings etc. because of the cost. Inevitably this destroys one of our main intended markets for Goldsmithing, and creates the situation that if we do wish to craft such items, it is basically at our own costs with little to no sales.

I believe after rebalances, stat-algorithm rebalances, etc. that this may have a good turnaround for us goldsmithers and players needing the accessories, but I am just looking to make this issue well known for now.

Bayohne did make a post in a related topic, however that was awhile ago and I am looking for some further clarification.

I voted minor tweak, it would be nice if the slots increased as you rank, failing that get rid all together and let us equip as much as we can.

I believe the most recent post on the matter from devs says they will remove it altogether and just balance the items to reflect that you can wear more of them.

Um... I thought SE already said they were removing the cap on the accessory slots once they were done with the major fixes..?

That is a good idea for the current system, since it would keep lower ranks mainly using the items with lower slot-cost since it would be more efficient, and then as they level a nice tier-up progression would ensue. Would have to be a perfect balance though.


Some people think that the main problem is that if the system is completely gone, then people will look all blinged out like Mr.T all over the place but come off it... people usually wear gloves and everything else, hell I don't even see my rings/bracelets unless I need glove repairs... almost forgot rings showed. Same goes for people wearing earrings/necklaces with helmets...

Hello everyone! As Bayohne has mentioned in the earlier post, we talked with the development team and are here to relay the latest details on this topic.

Currently the development team is reviewing the accessory point system, including the possibility of abolishing the system. However by doing away with the accessory point system and removing the limit, different issues will arise. For example, by allowing players to have more accessories equipped, the value and effect of each accessory will decrease. Also by having more accessories in possession, players can run into storage problems. To prevent these issues from happening, the development team is thinking things through carefully, so it will be a little more time before we have a concrete solution.

We are looking forward to any additional feedback you may have so please don't hesitate to give us your thoughts!

So yeah they know it is an issue, and they are looking into either changing or getting rid of it if they can. I knew I had read it somewhere, just had to find it.
