It is actually quite sad how long I have seen some people in game. In the morning i log on to reset attribute points, they are on. Get on a few hours later to reset points again, they still on. once more before bed, still on. I do resets alot because I switch from Pug to Con and only play 3 nights a week in case people were curious of the numerous resets.
I do spend alot of time on these forums, then again I do not have over 1,000 posts so some people spend there life on the forums, or in game, or both. It is rather sad, but I do enjoy the small community we have here.

^ how do you know there not doing something similar? Are they active that whole time? Ive seen plenty of people who just leave the game on a lot and go afk...heck ive done that quite a few times in FFXI.

Very true, often I see them crafting though. so unless they are botting, I assume they are at their keyboards.
Hmmmm Fools.

If you put an effort and in 3 days you have your shiny armor, a casual player can take 2-3 weeks and obtain it.
Fact is, both will obtain that armor sooner or later.
Everybody wins!

It actually goes a bit further than that. For the really hardcore, it's not just a hobby, their lives revolve around it. Back when I played WoW, I knew players would literally spend 8-12 hours per day in game.
Aye, should commodities be designed with pathological behavior in mind? Not IMO.
Yes they are entitled to live their lives as they want but when they start berating others for being full human beings...
Yup.

Done in one (page).Casual: People who realize that this and other games are just that - games. They typically are pursuing a college degree, or otherwise working a full time job. These people want to log on and just have some fun.
Hardcore: People who have no real life obligations, and therefore view the game as most casual players would real life. They think the game matters, and so want to be better than everyone in the virtual world because they are neckbeards in real life.
This too. Moreover, most "hardcore" have an idea of "hard work" that equates to "waiting in a spot for multiple hours, getting bored to death while doing nothing at all, while the mob spawns". Which is absolutely laughable.
You mean just like those who accuse us of wanting everything at level 1 when in reality we're just looking for a reasonable amount of progression in the time we do have to devote to the game? There are alot of ways to explain if you are a casual or hardcore MMO player, but flat out generalizing the Hardcore players as "Neckbeards" is flat out insulting.
It's always been about time available, and as some of us get older, we become more critical of how we spend our time. I used to be able to go on leveling binges in Lineage II and (eventually) FFXI back when I was still in school, but I don't have that kind of time anymore to devote to a game.
Either way, the casual crowd is not asking for everything handed to them. We're not asking for endgame items or excaliburs and murgleis' dropped into our inboxes.
* The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.
