What's PVP ?
What's PVP ?
IDK what crappy data center you are on, but i never wait more than 5 mins for a match.Wolf Marks should increase, but for a very different reason. It needs to increase to justify the huge wait times. The lower wolf mark count would be OK if we are getting 30 second to 5 mins wait times on queuing for PvP, but we are getting 10 to 40 mins wait times. It simply doesn't add up for any one who's hopeful on obtaining gear.

I think the gear should be cheaper, but the amount of wolf marks gained stay the same. I don't want it to be like the olden days of wow where gear was 40,000 honor points but you'd get 1,000-2,000 a match. It was unnecessary.
I do think that exp gained should be increased with level, or participation. It is insanely hard to level, and I really enjoy PvP.
It's weird they seemed to put so much detail into the high end pvp gear, but put it out of everyone but the wintrader's reach.
If you actually like the pvp (which I do), and the system was working normally ( it isn't) the grind itself from 1-30-40 is fine. You're supposed to learn how to play through vast amounts of expereince, and at the end you are rewarded with gears for doing so. Not rush to get gears, if thats all your goal is, well... sad day for you. With the queue times being broken due to the messed up matching system, I'm still getting to r30 relatively easy. With normal queues and instant pops? I'd be 40 in a few weeks. The real problem stems from the amount of marks the actual gears cost. But only because this game revolves around a system that allows you to switch characters on the fly. But you can't do this in pvp, due to the massive amount of marks needed to gear up. Once you've gotten your rank 30 set, it will take a very long time to get another for whatever else you might like to play, and you most likely won't even choose this route, as you'll continue spending the marks you earn on the animal set as you rank further. This is counter-productive to one of the main selling points of this game. They want you to play more classes, but once you change to another class in 50 brackets and don't have the gear to back it up, you'll get trashed. So you are being forced into one class and should you choose to switch, you'll be heavily nerfed.

Aren't the pvp abilities heavily tied to class? I am whm in pvp and notice that all the pvp actions I bought are specific to whm or healing classes. If I switch classes to DPS, I lose those abilities and don't get the ability to spend my earned points into dps abilities. I'd have to respec for (2k?) wolf marks in order to get dps abilities, so I can't be flexible.
Yes, but they are fixing that in 2.8. Resets will be free.

It's both, actually. Abilities themselves won't cost anything (but enhancements to said abilities will still cost stuff), and all respecs will be completely free.

MMO pvp doesn't really appeal to me any more and ffxiv doesn't seem built for it in the first place. So it doesn't really matter to me either way.
But seriously, why is there a gear grind for anything but vanity in a mmo released in 2014? Pve needs the carrot on a stick. At it's core, character building is kind of the point. Pvp that isn't the point. Competing against and beating other players is. It doesn't need it and on top of that some players having better stats than others goes against the idea of a fair competition.
