Maybe I'm just simple and noob, and practical... And see the things too easy sometimes....Why don't add some kind of quest to new players that requires a minimum of inteligence to complete and that is random?

This quest would allow the /tell command and also explain to new players how to use it... But for complete it, you have to answer some questions, click, move to somewhere, gather something, kill something, whatever, one example could be kill a certain monster that will not always be the same... This would delay, HIGHLY the bots. Because they'd have to reprogrammate them for doing the quest, or that or do it theirselves but I doubt it....

Oh, I feel like a genius... If you think on it, common, SE, it is not so difficult...

Make a quest for learning how to use /tell command and also give it to people information and tricks such as the altgr + R and such...That way you avoid RMT, or delay them highly... Bann them is pointless because they can make one in a moment and go to use tell since the start... If using tell command would cost a little... or require having a certain level (15?) You'd squish them up.

Even if they reprogram their bots for doing these new quests, you can make the replies appear in a random way or to require an human response, Even require you to write something, like those where you have to write "Hello" to a NPC, only that the thing you have to say would be different, yes... a code, a captcha.

Allowing the command tell only for humans, you avoid RMT... It is soo easy... Or again, maybe I like to see the things easier.... But I'd do it like that, I also had time a private server of one mmorpg and I had to deal with thingies like this.

The only truly ways to stop them is the Players. They just need to stop buying Gils, unfortunately it not that simple because people get away with it so they just keep buying. SE should start Banning the players as well when buying Gils. Atleast SE have banned them enough that they only Whisper and I don't see them spam in Town in they used to anymore. In the meantime, you can always turn off Whisper to temp fixed this problem, or right click on them and move on.

Here's the thing.... It's not just FFXIV. Kotaku put out an article about how ESO is having a major bot problem:

    http://kotaku.com/the-elder-scrolls-...ots-1576904269

It's a massive problem in MMOs. The problem is that while action isn't visible... Square-Enix was actually one of the first companies to successfully do anything about it. After RMT destroyed XI's economy and players left en masse SE got serious. They even went as far as to host a meeting of other MMO Developers to share their tactics. It feels like it's gotten worse. It's true. But that's because of the visible advertising. There needs to be a better filter set in place, but why do you think half the tells are unreadable with them replacing Ks with |< and all that crap? It's to get around chat filters. RMT just get more 1337speak with each update to the filter.

As said already hundreds of times before - while this will not solve the problem at it roots it will at least decrease the level of annoyance to the players - SE needs to implement following features to chats channels and tells specifically:

    1. Option in the settings to chosse from whom you can receive the tells: anyone / friend & FC only / players you've sent tell to "recently" (in current session) / noone
    2. Possibility to to set your own local dictionary based chat filter so you can filter out the most obvious crap or stuf you're not interested into - e.g. not only RMT but some of the LFG, LFM, ATMA, crafter's shout and so on.
The side effect / benefit of the localy (by players) managed text filters is that spammers can't test those unlike the global ones and it also takes less stress on servers as it's processed localy by game client.

Both are VERY simple to implement and as long as they'll optional it will not affected anyone currently "happy" with the way the chat (doesn't) work.

Excellent comparison! Yes, there is exactly as much truth to it as there is to the image you presented.

Do you realize that Square Enix has to individually monitor reported users to make sure they're actual spam accounts? What, do you think they just instantly respond to your reports and take care of it? Do you realize how many reports are made for tons of different issues? RMT is being addressed all the time, you people just want it to go away forever, and sorry, but if there's a market for it, it will NOT go away.

If Square Enix could get rid of RMT forever, they would, and don't tell me that the RMT scammers give them money for buying the accounts so they don't care. The salary for the amount of people employed to deal with the reports and account investigation along with the costs for the databases dealing with all the created/deleted accounts FAR exceed the small price of gil sellers buying accounts for $30 or however much it is.

As a programmer for a very small company that makes WEBSITES, I make $25 an hour... How many hours of time do you think goes into each account investigation spread across multiple people and then factor in their salary along with the bandwidth and database usage costs from these spam bots? Please, try and tell me that they are making a profit from RMT sellers...

(I hope this never happens, but...)

They could just sell gill themselves for a bit under what rmt sell for XD.

Rtm would then be shit out of luck.

Because the in game transaction of it would be safer and more secure buying from se. SE would make money, and rmts would be screwed since so could just sell Gil at like 5 dollars a Mil. Which all the spam I see is like "g() h3re(dot) com for Gil 9 $ for 1000k" or stuff like that. So if se undersells the rmts then they'll have to leave cuz they make no money. Lol.

But srsly... Please don't do this lol. Just fond a way to stop them
