I think it's just a lot more accurate to say that RMT is not a priority right now, rather than saying they don't care. Just like any exploits or questionable methods of play, they won't prioritize change unless it's absolutely necessary. Until things hit that point, it takes the backseat to other development issues/projects. Leviathan is ridiculous on RMT spamming, but it's nowhere near as bad as it was shortly after launch. They've gone back to /shout and /yell spam, along with the /tell ones, but it's a little more staggered. It's a hit or miss to players that get more spam than others, and it seems to be influenced by location and level.I'd like them to try to minimize the impact then. Some sort of whitelist(where only friends on it can /tell, which has been suggested a billion times) or SOMETHING. Anything that helps stops the RMT /tells besides turning off tells completely. I actually may turn off my tells, come to think of it.
Like it's been said in other threads, lots of F2P MMOs have better ways of blocking RMT spam than FF14 does. :/ The reason I agree that they don't really care that much about RMTs is because of this fact.
Is it stupid of them to ignore adding a simple chat filter option? Maybe, since chat functions code a lot easier than gameplay ones. If that sort of thing were to take up a lot of time, they're really in trouble. But at the same time, it's probably just not a big deal in their eyes. It's annoying as hell for us, granted, but no matter what they do, RMT will find a way to hit us with their spam.
Why is it every game I play have this thread, which is just incorrect? I already said my piece on this nonsense so look it up.
Also the "They dont care unless it affects JP servers" just makes my head hurt the same way people made WW2 jokes during the game launch.
/vent

I had none for about a week or so, but the last 3-4 days they've been hitting me pretty hard, sometimes 5-6 different /tells from different ones within a minute
Problem is, at least judging how SE did it in XI, any action they do against RMT ends up hurting legitimate players just as bad.
what should be done is what I have said and others have said.
Make it where if they aren't in your Linkshell or Free company or Friends list, they cannot send you tells.
I mean we can go up to someone as use "Say" to invite them to friends or free company or Linkshell.
As for the shouting problem make it where NPC aka bot cannot shout, they should know who is human or not anyone pressing keys, wanna know how I know that, because if you were standing there afk when the auto kick was on then how did you get booted off to begin with, obviously you aren't at the pc moving anything so you get kicked after 30 minutes, bots are spamming same thing standing there not buttons automated shouts, I am sure they could do that.
I mean think about it, we all use "Busy" we aren't getting tells, so far I believe this now, its basically RMT trade route the tell system is, its no longer used to talk to each other without being spammed by someone you don't know and bothered and against tos because you are being harassed and exploiting the tell system for gain.
Yes they have been banning but never gonna work, it didn't work in FFXI until they removed the server in that area and IP blocked them and set up a very good filter system.
one last thing, I wish they would setup like this, I mute them and even if they change characters it remembers their location and keeps them muted, even if they delete and start up another.

not SE is the main problem but people who use the RMT services to boost gil and stuff, if there would be no demand there wouldnt be a supply![]()
A large part of that demand stems from the advertisement. They wouldn't be spamming everyone if it didn't work. Cut down the advertisement and the demand lowers.
That's basically the main issue really. They aren't really doing anything to make the RMT market die down. Banning the new wave of bots every week just to have new fresh ones the next day isn't really going to stop them. It is "convenient" to SE because they keep making more accounts. It's like if there was a massive plague in real life, and instead of working on the vaccines to eradicate it the companies all just sold a temporal ailment that you have to keep buying. I mean, it "looks" like they are doing something, but they are not really fixing the problem, just profiting from it while making it look like they are being helpful.
The "action taken against RMT accounts" are pointless but plague the lodestone. On the other hand "Actions taken against the proliferation of RMT activities" is something I have yet to see in this game. It is sad that F2P games have better RMT management than this game.

I assume that the RMT go where they have the most sales. ^^;;; Stop giving them business I suppose and your server suffers less ^^?

The drones have made it to Pheonix and are assimilating..oops wrong fantasy universebut seriously last month or so (since 2.2) the RMT spam has become insane on Pheonix
