If people want to nerf atma so that it drops 4x as often, then we might as well take the bosses in coil turns 6-9 and make them 1/4 as strong as what they are now.
Which, to be clear, seems like a terrible idea. But it would be appropriately balanced for what some want to change in atmas/animus.
This is the biggest issue with 2.2, so much of the new content is tied to Second Coil in some way. The hyped up Gerolt's Masterworks are just tome gear that needs Coil progression to unlock, Leviathan Ex was relegated to being a Coil stepping stone, etc. And yet there's still nothing to use that fancy Coil-tied gear for outside of Coil. It's really senseless. If you're capable of completing the content, sure. There's plenty of posts here and elsewhere containing testimonials of being unable to beat T5 and Ex Primals though, so I think right now Second Coil gear is only in the hands of a very small minority of players. For everyone else, the Animus and Soldiery gear is really the only thing they have to look forward to.
That doesn't make sense. The atma gathering stage doesn't actually improve your relic in any way, it's just prep work for the real grind that is the 13k mythology and FATE waiting game, and even at the maximum upgrade stage they will still always be weaker than the raid weapons of the patch. If people want to nerf atma so that it drops 4x as often, then we might as well take the bosses in coil turns 6-9 and make them 1/4 as strong as what they are now.
