    Just because they make it easy for people to join together doesn't mean the design is bad. Square is making some really cool encounters. If your going to hop into a duty, you should know whats going on.

    I dunno, it's bad to me if 90+ percent of the player base has to watch videos in order to stand a chance to beat something or wipe for weeks or so. Except for the extreme hardcores of course.

    I'll be honest, I've never watched a video for any fight in this game and I've managed to nail down the healing in every one so far without issue.
    Only one I went to a learning party for was turn 5
    Everything else I just managed to pick up after 1 or 2 fights and skimming over the steps on reddit.

    It's a lot more fun to "discover" a fight as it goes on, rather than watch how to beat it and repeat it.

    If you really don't want to wipe people you can just read the key mechanics on reddit, and avoid most "fight spoilers"

    how is reading a guide on reddit any different than watching a video guide on youtube? lol

    an on that note, i dont really get why so many people think that looking at guides will downgrade your gaming experience. strategy guides have existed for as long as video games. an for this game, alot of fights require you to have an idea of whats going on, or you are going to waste 7 other peoples time, especially if you are tnk, because it is your job to lead the way an know whats going on. If you want your special gaming experience with no spoilers then make your own group for your own specific means, the answer to your problem is already in the game. there is another way too, if you want to learn a dungeon fresh, do it when it first comes out like the rest of us lol, then after a few weeks u will be blastin through it an be mad when people wipe u too lol but ya, if you que up for a primal fight or a coil run an you are the tnk, an you say, "hi im new, i have no idea whats goin on, tell me what to do" everyone else in the pt knows u just signed their death warrants, so ya some people tend to get a lil butt-hurt when that happens

    It's the nature of the beast. As an online game, every player is going to have access to the internet, so it doesn't matter what the design is, many people are going to cheat and look up strategies to make their life easier. If you don't make the fights interesting enough such that people might need to watch a video on it, then they're going to faceroll the content, get bored and quit.

    If you want to explore new content without watching videos, the best thing to do is obviously find like minded people you can play with. If you can't find enough, or prefer a more casual and less organized experience, the best time to do this is right after a new patch drops. At that point, nobody knows the new content so take advantage of it while everyone is in the same boat.

    Some people tend to forget one thing: when a new dungeon or trial is out there, the first ones that will make vids will perhaps fail more than one time. Did they watch a vid? There was none. Does that made them unable to achieve it? With Perseverance, nope.

    They make the vids to help 90% of the population that are not able to beat it.. without watching a vid.. else it seems people don't know what to do.. and will ask SE to lower the difficulty..

    I'm roxxor the bestest, so if I fail, SE is doing it wrong..

    April, I think it's just tough getting over the early end game hump where many players are farming myth heavily (starting at Castrum, untill start of Coil). Because they need so much myth many become impatient to first timers that dare enter the duty (or "speedrun") finder. I know this is even harder on tanks, who are expected to be exceptional and experienced from the start.

    For me it was a case of waiting and waiting for guys in the Linkshell / FC to be available / willing to take me on a first run of each dungeon, so I could enjoy it. After that (or when I'm comfortable with the dungeon), I don't mind using duty finder now and then and taking what comes, but even after the first run I prefer to join a pre-formed when possible to guarantee enjoyment instead of just a myth / gear grab.

    Keep trying to grab people in the Linkshell, but I know you're in a different timezone to many so that can be hard :/ You can try party finder, but I wouldn't hold your breath on that one.

    Ultimately you have to be OK with waiting around for people to be online / available to join your run (maybe level an alt class in meantime as it can literally be weeks before you get your happy group sometimes). I'm hoping as the Linkshell grows it will only get easier to form a party for those no stress runs, but honestly it will probably always be a challenge. Alternatively, you can just join the duty finder and hope for the best, but it's up to you how much drama / rage quits / vote kicks and vote abandons you're willing to take ^^;

    Anyway, when I'm on, chances are I'm up for an endgame run with you, so that's 2 of 4 (or 8 :P).
