Keep skills the same when used in PvE. Alter them for PvP only. Problem solved. My problem with PvP is not roaming, it's what it does to PvE. Cries of "OP!" and rounds of buffs and nerfs, skills we have to have, skills we can't, have aggravated me to beyond reason.
If it's just arena for fun, I don't have a problem with that, But if it's serious PvP (which it sounds like it is), I'm considering hanging up my game and thanking the devs for their time.
It's not a threat, it's just really how I feel.
Guess I'll just have to wait and find out the details.

Something akin to this -- not in the same style most likely but seems to be the same idea given the "defense battles" prior to it.

I can get behind that. I'd be annoyed to see party exp being something like 500% of what you'd gain solo. You already see gains in killing speed when you party. You can solo without issue make it so players can fight mobs around there level for a good amount of sp Then give party players EXP chain so they can get more EXP per kill so the party can level a little faster then solo and maybe solo would like to join players who are partying.
JP players voted for soloing, the other regions voted more for partying. I can go with both so long as one is not vastly superior to the other. It was nice then he goes by saying more solo come on Yoshi-p did you not see from the FFXIV poll that we want dam party play not solo?
* The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.
* Design ideas:
Red Mage - COMPLETE (https://tinyurl.com/y6tsbnjh), Chemist - Second Pass (https://tinyurl.com/ssuog88), Thief - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/vdjpkoa), Rune Fencer - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/y3fomdp2)

I seriously doubt that. With the switching, people will find new ways to complain. And it does nothing for the buff/nerf cycle.
Like I said, I will just have to wait and see what Yoshi-P has in mind.
Sounds like just as the game is getting fixed, they are going to jack it up all over again by adding PvP which has ruined the balance of every MMO since the dawn of time.
im personally kind of scared of the time space between 1.18 and 1.19
im predicting FFXIV to go through its own dust bowl era.
i love PVP, im not very good at it, but its so much fun to play against an actual human brain making instant decision based on player skill rather than just a string of calculations.Sounds like just as the game is getting fixed, they are going to jack it up all over again by adding PvP which has ruined the balance of every MMO since the dawn of time.
unfortunately, i too have heard PVP messes up balancing.... pretty big time.
i wonder how its gonna pan out? either way PVP in FFXIV wont be as fun to me due to the lack of any stealth in this game
no snk, no invis, no instant 10 yard teleporting, no camoflauge, no jumping (well yet)
PVP in FFXIV i believe will be no different than the U.S. civil war battle tactics.... line up with a drummer behind you in an open field so everyone can see you and just shoot straight in front of you.
did they even aim? humans are so funny sometimes.
not that i give two craps about your guys argument, but i felt the need to step in this time. smart comments deserve smart comments sometimes.
i think its safe to assume that not all semantics should be taken so literal.
in comparison, there "practically" isnt "much" of a way to rank once leves are nerfed.
happy?

15 abilities each? what is this... Kindergarten?A jack of all trades WHM... what is this 1989?

wow ty for the info Bayohne, I want to rank up killing NMs or/and high rank mobs (currently gives low sp), killing low rank mobs is boring =/

That post sounds greatly promising.
