Large-scale PvP and PvE. This is what I've been waiting for, I'm very pleased with this. ^_^
edit: I hope there is some PvPvE in the works also. it would be epic lol

I just want a consistant way to level up, I've always felt restricted with guildleves...
We had a little taste of party play a longtime ago in Eft/Raptor partys, which I enjoyed more so than guildleves, even though it was far from perfect, 15 man just didn't work, no strategic play at all.
As it is now, I find myself sitting around, doing the odd behest here and there while waiting for guildleves to reset which is annoying, I should be able to have the freedom of logging in everyday and being able to form a group "easily" and go exp.
Also getting high enough to do BW/Hala leve groups is ridiculous, I feel like I'm stuck around the 25-40 mark on trying to form a group outside of the linkshell.
I really hope this is one of their main focuses atm, I'm sure I read somewhere that they are adding individuals to flag themselves as well, I really hope they focus on bringing back the form a party, head to desired camp, and play for a long as desired.

this. is. fantastic.
I mean the quote... not the actual implications for the game... those are terrible.
Anyway, regarding PvP- I love it! This news made me very happy. I know that it's a slippery slope if they make it too big of a feature but what the hell, might as well do it because everything else right now sucks anyway... it might just save the game. I honestly don't think they would implement it if they didn't think it would be good. They've heard the PvP debates, they know the dangers, let them do it if they think it's a worthy idea.

One thing that disturbs me here is that there is no mention at all on the search feature to be fixed and perfected because right now the current system is poor and this should be altered with these changes, has there been any mention of this anywhere? I'm sure I'm not alone on this matter.

That kinda comes with the territory. Also it was said in another dev post that party searching mechanics would be revamped/refined.

Cool, put my mind a rest a little more! :3

Just like Christmas.Hi, this is Producer/Director Yoshida.
In regards to the questions cropping up about what will be done to party content now that leves are being made for solo play, we are thinking about the below for the future of FFXIV.
(Keep in mind that these are just examples and we’ll be adding unique new features and upgrading them.)
Casual Party ContentWe are planning to make adjustments to behest to make it more of a completion-type battle. We plan on improving Behest in stages beyond its current form.
- Behest
- Public dungeons
- Instanced dungeons
- Variety of defense battles/Chocobo escort-related features
Party ContentEnd-game content
- Hunting NMs
- Beast tribe settlement battles
- Instanced raid battles
Along with PvP, we are also envisioning a large-scale PvE, but since we are not really at the stage where we can release information, I’d appreciate it if you just take this as "They're gonna do it!!" for now.
For soloing as well, we are planning to increase the amount of content that can be enjoyed constantly while placing emphasis on quests and leves, being mindful to maintain a balance between the two.
In the future, I would like to keep on enhancing the experience point gains through quest completion and exp. parties in public fields. This is because at the very least, I feel this is "normal." However, I think the work will continue up to about 1.20 until the game reaches a point where I think the balance of ranking up methods is normal.
I wanted to mention this in the letter, but from patch 1.18 we will begin reforms to remove the current feeling that players are being bound to specific play styles. Travel-wise anima is a bit hard to touch on right now (as I've referenced in another thread), but we will be making edits to the return costs and surplus system in the same fashion. Especially in regards to the feeling that a loss will be incurred if you don't do leves every day, we are looking into implementing a type of ticket system that will let you store them up, and heading into 1.19 we will be starting the specification edits of this. (I will talk about the details of this in the letter following the release of patch 1.18.)
I deeply apologize for the current lack of content and focus on the core fixes, but we have solidified our plans, so please look forward to the future!

this is better '-'

Yoshi is side stepping the details that will make ppl unhappy but that he feels necesary for the game to succeed (and I agree 100% with this)
The leve system right now allows you to fail and go from 1-50 in 5-6 weeks playing for about 7-10 hours a week. This is just too easy. The ideal image is one where if you play every day for 2 hours or so, you will be able to reach the max cap on one class in about 3-4 months.
There are a few decent grind camps that this hopefully opens up and if they revamp the search feature to find ppl to party with I hope this really pushes the game in the right direction. Its going to be an adjustment from this 100k/hour sp rates some of us took advantage of but I think its all for the better.
