I can understand low level gear having some model overlap

But don't you think that past i90 for Allagan and Tome sets that they could at least expend some effort to make everything have a unique model? I don't think that's too much to ask considering it's end game gear.

At least for the Allagan gear there's -some- justification considering it prevents unnecessary expansion of the loot table to accommodate all jobs (For instance if you make Summoner/Black Mage Allagan into two different sets then that makes it that much harder for that job to get their drop), but there's no reason things like the Bard/Dragoon sets in CT or the Caster/Healer (or Dragoon/Monk/Bard) sets in First Coil should all have the exact same models.

Don't look at High Allagan...BRD and Caster have the same armor models (wait, what?) and MNK/DRG share (Healer and Tank are unique). Sol gear BRD and MNK share, rest are their own (Healer, Tank, DRG, Caster)

Also, BRD and DRG CT gear isn't completely shared; BRD hat and DRG mask are "unique" (to the sets); same for Caster/Heals (heads are different)

I definitely agree that there should be someone on quality control for these sorts of things.

meanwhile, the new PvP gear is job specific, not role specific.

Does that seem right to you?

Yeah, it's a bit weird. I feel with every new patch they put a LOT of work and detail into the environment, the npcs, and the cutscenes, but yet they seem to fall short with gear. For a game that's exceeded in everything else so well it's so weird that they recycle a lot of their gear (And that a lot of it recycled from gear that is dyeable but the recycled gear is not dyeable, and it's not a unique color)

Not to mention just how extremely ugly the high Allagan maiming set is.

You'd almost think that the current soldiery sets should be the PvP gear and the PvP gear would be the tome set because it's job specific.

I agree completely. All end game sets should be different. Having multiple jobs look exactly the same with a color variation is very lazy.

Thing is: there should be some 'universal' sets. Think about how many Jobs will be added to this game... if we want unique sets, we'd have to ask them not to implement many more classes.

I'd prefer more Jobs over more unique set(s).

For each Job there will be 1) relic weapon 2) artifact gear 3) artifact gear ii 4) some other unique sets.

That is a shish ton of assets/resources.

For now, it appears 'lame', but they're looking ahead into the future when they reuse art assets.

Also those art assets are probably currently being utilized designing that list for the new Jobs.

It's not lazy, as my above point... think where those assets are being used.

It's a matter of allocation, I'd much prefer they allocate their time toward new Jobs' art assets.

    Yes it does. Incentivisation.

It also matters from a design-standpoint (in a general sense) more that players appear unique in a PvP environment, think about Frontlines (24 man PvP)... how hard would it be to pick out the BLM's to prevent them from sleeping if they looked just like the healers, just like the SMN's, and so forth.
