If it wasn't meant to be done quickly, they'd make it require time and effort to complete. They wouldn't make it a random thing, because then you get the few people who do just finish it in a single attempt because of dice rolls.

The RNG is a gameplay prolonging tactic of the most blatant and minimal-effort sort. It gives the impression that the development team just couldn't be bothered or didn't have the time to make actual content.

All the QQ'ing is hilarious. You know what I thought when I started that questline? (and also after looking at new tomes, etc) My thought was "Wow....they are actually throwing some content at us that will take some time...and not just because people will suck at it and the ones that clear it will go all "EXP"ED PT ONRY" on us. It's actually going to take some leg work....I dig it. Also, this is obviously meant to take a larger amount of time than patches prior....so I'm pretty sure the next big update won't be happening for a while"

I think that it's more about not wanting everybody to get them all around the same time. If it was a situation of complete x number of quests and gather xx number of tomes then it would take a few weeks before the first group of players would have them and not much longer after that more and more players would have it. I think they wanted to avoid a sudden flood of atma weapons and chose to make it completely random drops. I am not saying that I support RNG, but I think it affords equal opportunity to a larger group of players regardless of how much playtime they may have.

I think so too, but Square also assumed there'd be way more people with Atma and Animus weapons by now and they saw that clearly wasn't the case, hence the delay with Nouva.

I'm stuck on my last two atmas, and sort of glad I conditioned my brain from day 1 to the possibility that I won't be able to find all 12 any time soon.

I started working on another atma set after I finished my PLD set. I haven't started on the myth collection for it to become an animus yet since I wanted to do other stuff with myth. Sure the RNG is a pain but it a simple solo activity I can do any time I please.

While I appreciate your attitude, I just can't bring myself to do something so repetitive and boring for such a long period of time. It's not that ai think it is impossible, I just don't want to put myself through that for a video game.

Yes, I realize once again, I got lucky with my drops. But again, I never gave up. What's so hard to understand about that? As I offered to someone else in another post, I'd be more than willing to help out with the hunt, provided we were on the same server. I've had an enjoyable time bemoaning my own fate (c wut i did thar) of not getting drops to getting that rush of finally getting a complete set. It really does feel so good once you finish doing said activity.

Yeah, I'm so happy I leveled to 50 to grind level 4 fates....

Considering I have yet to get the 3,000 FATE achievement reward, getting atmas is now a secondary task. Working on my second set for Monk, I'm more inclined to just grind the FATEs for that. If I happen to get atmas, then cool. Of course, I'm still going to go after them, just not as my primary goal.

I can understand why people don't want to put themselves through the grind, but if you really want it, you'll go for it. You'll put in the time and effort to get them, damned if it takes a long while. And yes, I'm quite sure this line has caused a lot of jealousy and resentment between players as some got theirs in several hours, where some have ground for days while not even seeing one. But why worry about what someone else has? Why not just be happy with what you have? I see tons of people with Allagan gear, sometimes I do feel a little jealous considering every time I run Coil I never get anything. But alas, that's their gear and it has nothing to do with me in the end. Point being, I've worked for the things I have and if someone else has the same or better without having put as much effort in, so what? It just makes me want to become better versed with this game and achieve more.

And I have lots of interesting conversation with the friends I've made along the way.

She is not refusing to work for something, Shes refusing to support an RNG system that has absolutely no reward. Your Relic changes colors. whoopty doo. Theres no skill, No challenge in Farming Fate after Fate of low lvl fates. I dont mind things taking a long time, i played XI, i got multiple Relics in there, it took a LONG LONG time, but i was ALWAYs making progress. I could go into a Dynamis Run and ill get Currency towards my goal. its something i can track, it's something i can anticipate. But with the Atma system, i could spend day nd days and not make any progress, lvl 10 Companion already, so im literally gaining nothing from spamming these low level Fates.
The Books after Atma? Great, it's substantial, its something with a clear goal and its something you can get constant progress on by putting in the time, i Like the book system.
we're not asking for SE to hand us anything, we're asking them to give us something substantial, something that we can Mark off progress for whenever we decide to work on it
(By the By, i got all 12 Atmas in 2 or 3 days, so im not whining just because it took a long time, so try another argument.)
