I've only recently gotten my atma sword and shield, and I've been trying since they were implemented. I was stuck at 5/12 for a long while and I just felt like giving up till I realized something:



And how true that is. You want to just give up on everything? Fine. That's your loss. I hate to see this game losing subscribers, but in the end it's your choice to stay or not.

I never thought I'd complete my first set but I did. And it's all because I didn't give up. I only get maybe 4 hours of game time a day, if at that. But in that time I'm not solely farming for atmas; I'm helping out lower level FC members, doing roulettes to max sol tomes, etc. Atma hunting became a secondary objective while I was out in the world. And I did it solo. Only recently (why I'm hunting for a second set I'll never know), did I start using the chocobo companion in battle (it has gotten me some good choco exp). Hell, I even forgot that you could use them as party members.

And think about the people that have cleared EX primals. They did it because they didn't give up; whether it was due to skill/memory or just sheer luck that they happened to win. The point is they didn't give up.


But I'm not saying all this to brag that "HEY I GOT MY ATMA Y CANT U?" I'm bringing this to attention in hopes to inspire others to not give up. I really like this game (albeit it has major flaws), and it's really the people I've met that really keep me coming back. They're the driving force that keeps me playing, building up my own character is just a nifty side-thing to do while I'm at it.

So please, I encourage you to not give up. It may seem impossible at the beginning, but think of how sweet the victory will be once you finally

When I don't have anything else that I feel like doing, I pick a random zone. I put up PF for an Atma group and run FATEs until it expires. If I get one, I move on to another zone. If I don't and PF expires, I move on to something else - I give it at most an hour of my time. In the larger zones where moving around is a pain in the ass, I pick a FATE that spawns often (like a CT unlocking FATE or one that is part of a Beast Tribe quest) and camp out there for that timeframe. I understand there is RNG to it, but I have been quite successful with this method and not stressed about it like some people are. Don't let it get the best of you - it isn't meant to be done in one setting.

That's another thing people aren't understanding; unlike a lot of the other content in this game, this quest line isn't meant to be done in one setting (although it has the possibility to do so).

When I started the quest line, of course I was frustrated with the drop rate, but I didn't give up. I felt the rewards would far outweigh the grind. Plus I hated to think of how I'd still have to hunt down the atmas even after the novus line was released. Hence why I pushed myself to hunt them before they released novus. Then I find out they postponed it. Totally glad I pushed to get it done.

The quest is garbage RNG is garbage and so are the supporters of RNG.

The complaining relaly is about people who feel entitled to have things handed to them pretty quickly. I just recently got mine done, and there were days in a row I got nothing. HOWEVER, I was able to get some achivements done, level my Choco, and make some gil from the Challenge log. In addition, the extra seals have helped my level my retainers quite a bit. Perhaps we should focus on the positive and not whine that "relic" items arent handed to us.

I have just started the books, and am enjoying the process so far.

I don't quite support RNG, but the quest really isn't that hard. It's this attitude that "it will never happen" that makes everyone just quit. The point is to not quit; to not give up. When they decide to release further implements to the relic line, then that will just be more that you'll have to do to get to atma/animus/novus.

Exactly. I'm glad to see people are actually enjoying this questline. I know it's not an easy one, but once you get past the stonewall, it feels like such a breeze. Much like Titan HM was back in the days. And I'm glad to see you got some challenge log entries done while you were at it.

Maybe I should learn how to speedrun first 2 bosses in Brayflox like everyone else QQ. On 8th book right now and been doing roulettes (minus expert, no myth bonus and soldiery caps for me early in the week) + coil + levi for mythology.

There's a thread for that. SRing isn't too hard, provided you have a good healer. BLM is always handy to have for it, but not necessary. I've done sub 7-minute runs without a BLM, though the DPS was considerably geared. Still, at least you're adding in roulettes to garner myths. I know several people who are burnt out from Bray farming.

Too bad we're not in the same server, I'd definitely be up for grouping/running.

I only fear that i could be one of the minority that will just be super unlucky and won't see drops till a few months after 2.3 ( probs around mid summer )
Even if i farm 5 hours a day, 6 days a week and still not get drops.
It's possible and that's what i don't like and am afraid of.
It's uncertain if it will happen to me but all that matters is am i willing to take that gamble?
Probably no atm as i find that i could be doing other things that will benefit me and others vs. Being an atma hopeful.

I was pretty lucky with my atma... got six in one day, and then the other six took about a week of grinding a few hours every day. Yes, there were a few atmas that gave me a hard time (hours and hours), but generally... I was pretty lucky. I already have my animus, and I hadn't been doing the books THAT hardcore (maybe 1-2 a week if that). Yet... I feel for the people who are still stuck on their atma stage, and feel discouraged... especially because they KNOW the grind that is coming once they FINALLY get their atma.

I received an increase in one weapon damage going up from my Allagan book (i95) to the Animus book (i100), although the stats on the Allagan book were preferable. The reward for what you put in just doesn't feel justified... but, like many others, I wanted the next shiny thing (literally!) and the promise that it will eventually become a much better weapon. I can only assume (hope!?) that the atma drop rate will be adjusted when the next level of the zodiac questline comes out (2.28)... because there will be a LOT of people left behind if that doesn't happen.
