Eos is not needed if team does not require a lot of aoe healing. Fey Glow increases your cast speed and make healing easier (for you and 2nd healer), Fey Light boosts bards and dragoons who hopefully know how to dps, however both deplete mana/tp fast so is not good for prolonged battles.

I think you may be confusing the 2 fairies. Eos is the healer pet while Selene is the buffing pet

Thanks to those who responded to my original question about magic vs. physical damage. I don't really look at the protect animation very much, and I find more often than not I'm with a whm anyways, but people wrote some helpful stuff here to give me ideas .

I wasn't really asking about which pet to use, as I'm pretty confident in my ability to choose when to use Selene. I'm not a raider, just a casual, since I can't raid on a regular schedule, so I just queue for df. So really no need to min/max. The extra healing from Eos helps me a lot, and Fey Illumination is great as well.

If I didn't have any latency at all, I could probably choose Selene more, but on fights like Titan, I have to move almost before each ability is cast and I have to keep moving long even after I'm out of whatever the attack is. Eos helps with the aoe healing on that since I am moving so much.

even in single target heal situations i prefer eos for the healing buff. honestly most people that i see use selene let selene auto pilot. well not most all probally due to silence.

Aside from that, you really shouldn't be 'typically using Eos'. Eos is a last resort when killing things faster is less important than surviving big moves/lots of aoe damage.

The short version: if you can't block or parry it? It's probably magical. Magical attacks also will never proc Eye for an Eye, and crossclass Virus does nothing on these enemies except waste the Antibody timer for a SCH or SMN.

Everything a "node" type enemy does (ADS as an example) is magical. E4E does nothing, Foresight does nothing, etc

Ifrit
M: Nails exploding
P: Incinerate (confirmation needed, been forever since I've tanked this)

Titan
M: Tumult, Weight of the Land, bombs
P: Rock Buster, Mountain Buster, Landslide

Leviathan
M: Everything head does (including Tidal Roar), spumes exploding
P: Everything tail does

Geocrush is magical too, used blm manaward and it eats some of the damage. So you could throw up a fey covenant on ex Titan just before those to help out.

You could, but nobody should be dying to Geocrush unless they are weakened + unshielded, severely undergeared in VIT, or derping around in the middle. Immediate AoE damage never comes right after it so there's little point.
