How exactly could they possibly make Classes as potent as Jobs while still continuing with the design of Jobs being endgame?

May as well be asking for Weathered Hora to be as potent as High Allagan Baghnakhs in my opinion. One is meant to be better than the other, that's just how its designed. Presumably they only left them in for branching Jobs like Summoner and Scholar. I really don't have much of a problem with it, it's actually very Final Fantasy. Once you got Red Wizard/etc. you never went back to the originals, for example.

That's right. Thank you for the clarification. ^^

To pick up your comparison with the Weathered Hora and High Allagan Baghnakhs, if jobs & classes are the same as gear, isn't it redundant then to have TWO systems with vertical progression?
Why not have the gear handle that vertical progression once level 50 is reached and have classes + jobs handle horizontal progression past level 50?

That would make much more sense. Furthermore, they completely scrapped the initial model of classes even though it was not necessary since the jobs fixed the class identity problem.
As it was pointed by above, classes are meant for solo play or small parties, however classes are so weak compared to jobs that even for solo play it's not worth it.

In conclusion, classes would benefit greatly by being more potent and it wouldn't affect the gameplay of jobs (so you can stay away from it if you don't like it).

LOL cash shop! SE's way to tell their player how they appreciate them... pull the carrot and empty your pockets $$$
And to those who support it: you are kicking yourselves. -- We just need to sit back and laugh at people with cash shop items.
