1.0 Ending, Did you know?

I was an emotional wreck the day after the servers went down and that video went live...just...jesus... they prepped us almost a year in advance with storyline, quests, etc. We took it for granted Louisoix would always be there, then boom, he becomes the pivotal character for our survival.

I remember seeing it for the first time and just sitting there in shock after it was over. Like...holy F@CK. Then I got pouty, and watched again...got pouty some more...and couldn't go to bed. No fiction movie or tv show or clip has got me that close to tears as this did..much less leave me an emotional wreck to the point I was thinking..god not the old elf dude ;_; all day ><

I guess this is a good time to repost these. I fraps'ed all the days, including the GM shenaningans XD I miss that creepy Answers music that played pretty much everywhere. And if you look closely, you can see a grassy Coerthas. O.O

I and others speculated about a primal being inside, but I got it totally wrong by thinking it was Odin, rather than Bahamut.

I think everybody was surprised about it being Bahamut, even though there were hints (some small, like Garuda's essence floating toward Dalamud, meaning that a Primal was absorbing her aether, plus Baelsar commentating that Darnus was changed) and some large (like Darnus using Megaflare against us) but the general consensus that was Darnus was just nuts - rather than actually being tempered.

I recall when the event happened a few people wondering whether that was Bahamut or Shinryu - since even though Bahamut has a very characteristic look Shinryu is the one known to be the end of worlds.

The end of 1.0 made me tear up and yell "Oh my god" simultaneously. I was completely not expecting it, Louisiox's fate completely shocked the community. It was the one of the best Final Fantasy twists in some time =)

Totally worth staying up till 5AM even with the choking servers that night. "emotional wreck," describes it well.!

Heart wrenching when Lou is narrating it. Without his sacrifice, all legacy players would be dead and everyone would start over at level 1.

The red dalamud started as a small star in the sky that approached the planet after every update. When it was a small red star in the sky no one even worried it would grow to such a thing lol

Near the end of 1.0 when it was close to hitting, it was clear it was not a normal meteor but some kind of a machine or special technology by the looks of it and I think many speculated that something was inside

Oh man, the memories...! I have many nice gaming memories, both singleplayer games and MMOs. But the End of an era-movie, watching it live after getting up waaay to early in the morning to be there when they closed the servers... That still stands as the most powerful gaming memory for me.

What would have been really cool is if they'd set it up so that without specific warning they'd shut the servers down, but when they did so everyone who was logged in would fade to the End of and Era video, then return to the title screen with the only available option being to exit the game.

Yeah, I see what you mean! But at the same time it would meen most people missing out on being there when it happened, since the event was worldwide.
